    Vegas trip recommendations

Going to Vegas for a 4 day meeting and should be able to get in about 10 hours of play. Staying at the Venetian and won't have a car though I could certainly take a taxi downtown if needed. I'm a recreational counter with a 20K BR who's been playing for 6 months. I've logged 5,500 hands on Casino Verite and I've read the major books. The only game I've ever played is 8D, S17, DAS, LS cause that's what my local store offers. I'm still betting small until I gain confidence, experience and a bigger BR. So...

    1) How much money should I bring? I was thinking 2K but in another thread it was suggested I need more (maybe 4K?)
    2) Where should I play? Leaning toward Treasure Island and the Mirage because they're nearby and look to have decent 6D $25min games (per Wizard of Vegas) or maybe take a cab to Red Rock?
    3) What games/rules should I look for?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    1. If Red Chip player, $2k is enough, if Green Chip player, then $4k is minimum for 10 hours of play.

    2. You can get rental cars in Las Vegas for under $15 a day, parking is mostly free. It's worth it and you can hit all station casinos with it. On my last trip, I found they are the best for my low level BJ ($25- $250).

    3. In my opinion, the most available and good are the H17, otherwise good rules games. Las Vegas gives you more heat than elsewhere unless you are in super busy times. In those super busy times, the games away from strip and downtown are better anyway.

iocassionally travel to LV but others who live there might PM you.

A little more info. Thinking a $200 max bet. 1:8 spread on the $25 table or 1:15 spread on the $10 table. Wong in at + 1 out at -1. Ramp 25,25,50,100,200 or 10,10,25,50,100,150.

    1) 2k is not enough for $25 min;200 max; You could loose more than 1k in a single shoe. Think about the good low limit games off strip and bring 4-5k.
    2) A car is required for the best games which are off strip below $25; TI is not that great of a game and they sweat any decent spread.
    3) Get a copy of CBJN $15; Look for 2D H17 DAS or 6d H17 DAS LS for $5 or $10 min. The lower mins will allow you to play a stronger game. Then do the 15:1 spread on the $10 table.

Your Bankroll is 10K - only if it is in your pocket, not at home.
You bring the $10,000 which is quite adequate for green action.
Understand ~ the HEAT you'll experience will be worse than you think.
There are some places that will 86' you for playing Basic Strategy.
A cab to Red Rock will cost a LOT, even with Uber. More than you think.
Play on off hours and days. Graveyard Monday to Thursday is best.
For a other valuable tips, P.M. me when you have a paid account here.

DO NOT play rated double deck in Vegas. Playing rated on shoes is iffy, but absolutely a terrible idea to play shoes.

The Venetian is really nice, but the games are bad and somewhat sweaty.

I recommend back-counting on the Strip if you want hourly EV. If you want to comp hustle, do a comp spread on S17 RSA DD games.

    Cardguy,

    1) I green chip (up to 2x$250 or $300); I never walk into a casino with anything less than $5K. Usually I take $6K to $8K. I almost never need even close to that, but I've had 2 specific instances where I bought in for $7K one night and $11K. It's always better to be prepared. I would take $5K on your trip.

    2) Do Not Play Rated!

    3) Do Not Play Treasure Island or SLS! Trust me!

    4) DO play Red Rock! Nice casino and if you keep the sessions short, you'll be ok.

    5) I would consider renting a car. It's so cheap and the best games are typically not on the strip or downtown. I use Alamo and they're good. Very fast check out and cheap ($150 for 5 days).

    6) If you experience a back off: don't cash out, head down, walk to the nearest exit, and don't stand around to talk to casino manager/security or argue with them.

    7) Don't play where you stay.

    Good luck!

When I was there in April there was a particular dealer offering 90% pen on the DD game at a casino whose name is repeated. Hint: The big tent, lions, clowns etc...

If you're looking to get around on the cheap in Vegas look into the Lyft new sign up promo which is $200 worth of credits or 10 free rides up to $20 which should be sufficient to get you to most places you need to go to find some good games.

I did some searching and haven't been able to locate this promo. Do you have a link?

Do you mean the LYNC? I had free rooms there two weeks ago. Decent rooms and a perfect location that is in the middle of the Strip. I might be going back tomorrow actually.

In general, Uber is somewhat less expensive than Lyft,
and both are more thrifty then the Las Vegas Taxis.
