Look, yes there were mistakes in the test and I failed. I am a part time player, sit in the car before entering the casino, go over BS and I-18 and probably do better than I did on the test. I have been lucky that I am winning but barely this year, did better last year.

Thanks to Freightman, I will study much harder. I agree, I need it. Because you are friends, I dared to take the test. I deserve the ridicule.

I do do not have much time to study BJ. Between a full time job, a family and other responsibilities, any spare time is in the casino, not at home playing with software, reading books or memorization. Despite all this, because of this forum and another, I have learned enough to be winning though the EV per hour is low.

i fully expect a lot of time to become better as I retire in 3-6 months (I prefer retiring in 3 months, my employer wants me around till June, 2016). I thank you for being far more tolerant than the other forum.

I generated the test - I just had a sneaking suspicion.
Sincerely, there is no excuse for failing the test. Part time player excuse just doesn't cut it. You've played for a lot of years, granted, with an apparent hiatus in between.

The fact of the matter is, like a child with a tantrum, you will not do as you are told, so to speak, under any circumstance. That may be a successful ploy in some environments, but it just doesn't work at an endeavour which is high volume, low margin. It requires precision, judgement, and a desire to excel. No disrespect, but you display none of those traits.

You mentioned a 25k shoebox float. Your box should have more than that. So far, variance and luck have essentially, been with you. Time to take a hard look and make some decisions. The implication is, if you continue, that there will be nothing left, except a pair of shoes.

Agree. For now, my playing is recreational and I will work harder on BS and I-18. Shoe box is now a safety deposit box in a bank. The sum total is $40k, $10k is in the Shoebox, $30k in safety deposit box.

The hope is that I will have time to invest in BJ as you recommend in the near future.

Playing BJ without so much as knowing "perfect" Basic Strategy is like

bringing a knife to a gunfight. You are destined to wind up pretty dead!

I would go with the basic strategy tables in Appendix B of BJA3, and take heed to the words of Don Schlesinger: "....should another source disagree with the BS recommendation provided in our charts, that other source is in error. It's as simple as that."

I haven't compared the two sources, but presumably there are no differences?

If you going to play without knowing perfect basic strategy in blackjack then you are better off taking a basic strategy card with you to the tables.
