BJNewbee is correct... I wouldn't recommend it for high limit players. In Cherokee they have a VIP room with $100 tables that are still 6D - but are hand shuffled and the dealer stands on 17. In Murphy, they will usually have one or two $25-$50 tables and the max is usually capped at $2000 so it does not have a 1-100 ratio. Murphy is good for the smaller players that want $5-$10 BJ and carnival tables - that is rare to find in Cherokee.

Yes, it is in the foothill mountains of NC. Their market (all within about 3 hours drive time) is pulled from:

    Chatanooga
    Knoxville
    Charlotte
    Columbia
    Atlanta
    Asheville

These combine to make a large MSA of about 9 million people and there are no other competing casinos in their proximity.

I recently visited the new casino in Murphy and found the rules and conditions to be in line with what the OP stated. I was there on a weekend. There was one $5-500 table, a handful of $10-1000 tables, several $15-1000 and $25-1500 tables, and a couple of $50-2000 tables.

Dealers were very slow, and most tables had the 21+3 side bet which also slowed things down.

During the morning hours, there's one $5 craps table, but it goes up to $10 minimum around noon (again, this was a weekend, so not sure about weekdays). There are also other $10 and $15 craps tables. They allow 10x odds (as they do in Cherokee).

Basically, this is a mini-Cherokee, which is not surprising given that it's owned and operated by the same tribe (EBCI) and they're an hour away from each other.

As I mentioned, I observed rules and conditions in line with what the OP stated. He reported penetration averaging around 1.5.

    And,yes, it has a hotel. (https://www.caesars.com/harrahs-cher...ey-river/hotel)

On a completely unrelated note, that part of NC is absolutely gorgeous.
