    Casinos in Tunica, Mississippi

I'm heading to Tunica this weekend to play some BJ. I know there are a few casinos in the area. Any advice on which have the best rules/playing environments? I'm not an AP - I do know BS 100% though. Just hoping to not lose my ass and maybe hit a few good shoes - lol

Was up there recently and it's pretty much a wasteland for an AP. We were at the northern cluster of casinos, went into Tunica Roadhouse to eat, buffet had a $19.99 price on the buffet, but when we got to the cashier she said $26. Buddy told them to FO. The area reeks of ripoff.

I was in Tunica fairly recently and found it to be a good spot for red-chippers like myself. Here's a slightly edited version of what I posted on another site.

I played Gold Strike, Horseshoe, Roadhouse, Bally's and Fitz.
Rules are generally H17, DS, RSA. This held true for 6D and DD. The SD game at Horseshoe did not allow DS, not sure about RSA.

I only saw one 6:5 game, and that was the SD game at the Roadhouse.

Horseshoe and Gold Strike have lots of $25 DD games where it's easy to get heads-up play (during the week when I was there, anyway). DD pen was slightly better than 1 deck. Horseshoe also was dealing one $25 SD game when I was there.
Horseshoe and Gold Strike also have lots of $5 6D games. Pen varies by dealer but didn't see anything great. Usually 1.5 or so.

Roadhouse is a dump and in the off hours, they only have two BJ games open: a $3 CSM game that pays 3:2 and a $5 SD game that pays 6:5. In the afternoon, they open up a $5 6D 3:2 game and a $15 DD game. Pen is about the same as Horseshoe.

Bally's is a dump as well. They have a $5 and a $10 DD table as well as $5 6D. Funny thing about Bally's DD is they have signs at the tables saying you're not allowed to show your hands or discuss your hands with other players. It didn't seem to be enforced, though. The other players discussed their hands plenty.

Fitz had a couple of $10 DD tables open as well as some $5 6D tables. The pen varied, and as Forrest Gump said "that's all I have to say about that."

Finally, I didn't feel any heat, but I'm not much of a threat (red-chipping spread 1-6 on DD; 1-15 on 6D), and played short sessions. Got the typical requests to get a player's card, but after I politely declined, they didn't bug me about it.

Overall, I liked Tunica. Seems like a good place for a red chipper. If I was blasting black and purple, I strongly suspect that would be a different story.

Did you order any drinks? You could have used a Total Rewards Players card if you had one and used the points on your card. From my understanding the Roadhouse is controlled and owned by Caesars. The Roadhouse is a wasteland, it should have remain closed with the shitty games their offering to the public.

I would advise everyone to boycott Roadhouse. Sometimes when I play at Horseshoe or Gold Strike and have nothing to do, I drop in Roadhouse and go to the 1D game, ask the rules and then tell everyone that Roadhouse is ripping them off. The pit gets hacked off when I do that but I just wave them off and tell them I wouldn't play their crooked game if they gave it to me. Then I"m out the door.

Good thread, but it is missing the most important CAVEAT:

If backed-off at any casino in Tunica, you are instantly "flyer'd" to all the others

Good to know. Do the MGM and CZR places share with their Vegas brethren as well? If so it would seem wise to never play rated at any of the Tunica places.

Sorry; maybe because you have not joined. It's a link to the playing conditions. It's technically a subscription portion of site.

OK, Bodarc......you must have been in a GOOD mood when you did this........LOL But I agree with you. It's amazing that the two places, owned by the same corporation, have such different rules. Horseshoe being not that bad and Roadhouse being pitiful. There is almost NO reason to play at Roadhouse as to BJ and while they have tried remodeling the place, it's like a ghost town in there on weekdays. Only reason to stop here is for rooms........if Horseshoe is booked up. Luckily, if you are using a Total Rewards card, you can still earn points toward your comps playing either place or using either places' facilities. So that portion you don't lose.

I have played their often. Gold strike and Horseshoe are the two doing the most business. GoldStrike hAs the better pen on DD games via a notch. At Horseshoe, if you are winning, the penn gets worse. Both are good places. I play rated and get good meal comps that are very easy to get. Playing rated, you get less heat but if your intent is to spread more, make much bucks, then unrated is the way to go.
