Is Blackjack a game of skill or luck?
Skill
Mostly skill, some luck
Mostly luck, some skill
Luck
BJ is a highly volatile game of skill.
The "luck factor" represents itself
in the huge swings of wins / losses
we experience.
OBVIOUSLY there is NO such thing as luck.
It is merely a label that we apply to people
or events -- AFTER the FACT.
If I find a lottery ticket in the street and cash
it for $5,000 you will say that I am lucky, but
if I get robbed on the way home then I am suddenly
unlucky. Before the fact, I am just The Zen Master.
Opinions and Commentary on the Gaming Industry: The Bear Growls
Unless you know a lot of card counters in real life, i am going to assume that you are asking people who know nothing about blackjack.
Try creating a poll about medical advice. I predict that you will get a lot of conflicting advice as opposed to what your doctor would tell you.
They say in the short term it's mostly lucky, but "mostly" is a relative term. When talking about the difference between a small win and a small loss skill plays a huge role and those small wins do tend to add up over time. Only in terms of big wins or big losses in the short term does luck play the primary role.
