Dealer notifies floor of Green Action!

Here's a short story I wanted to share about a recent trip I had. I travel the Midwest quite a bit and I'm able to play several times a month as a part time pro. I visited a very small store recently with a handful of Bj tables and about 500 slots. Typically those are my favorite places to do a hit and run of a couple hundred, check out the buffet, live entertainment etc... and return later. I bought in for 200 floor was notified and pit boss asked me 3 times for a players card or my D.L. I politely declined twice then asked why, and did I need one to play? her response was " To build points" I chuckled and said you don't have a buffet here only a deli, you don't have a hotel, what are the points for, I can pay for my drinks and sandwiches. She got pissed and walked off I was like wtf. Dealer said never mind her.
After several losing hands at table minimum bet they switched dealers and the table went to a tc of 2 I raised my bet to 25 dealer yells green action. I laughed on the inside and wondered what do they do with a black chip. Dealer busted I won and parlayed dealer yells "double green action." The count went back negative so I went back to a little more than table minimum, and dealer yells "Action reduced" or something similar. 2 players left the table and one had pocketed a green chip and probably 5 reds pit boss walked over and stopped the game wanting to know which one of the players left with the green chip. Dealer didn't see as her attention was somewhere else she was reprimanded in front of us. I didn't stay long enough to see a tc of 6 to play a black or parlay to one but I'm thinking if I had and won that might of gotten the tap. However after 2.5-3hrs of play... story of my recent life I left a $200 loser vs. a $100 winner and maybe it was better that way so I know not to go back.

I wonder if she would have called it out had you been betting in red only ($25) and not green. I find this to be a good technique betting 4-8 green instead of black at small time casinos to avoid dealers calling out everything. In your case it was a sweat joint so it likely would not have mattered. I played at casino once 25-500. I bet 2 hands of $50, slowly increases to 2 hands of $100 with bet of $75, dealer yelled checks play and I got tossed in 5 minutes. LOL

This happened to me at a tribal joint out in the sticks once. The annoying thing about the dealer was she was calling "green action" EVERYTIME I bet it, and that was every hand since I bought in for $500. The pit was scurrying around like a natural disaster had just occurred.

I find it hard to imagine it's casino policy for dealers to announce green action. Seems more likely she's just a new dealer who is a little bit confused about the rules.

At some of the fine midwestern sweat shops where locals flat-betting is the usual, this isn't hard to imagine at all.

Player refuses rating, and is spreading? New dealer might have been instructed to advise the floor like that for a certain spot.

Is it crazy to sweat like that? Yes, but it's not unbelievable at all.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Bizarre and outrageous. Horizontal spreading seems like a simple enough solution.

    1. Don't be rude to the floor like that. There are better ways to handle the situation. "I'd prefer not to" is much better than making fun of them.
    2. Don't play there. Seriously, just don't ever play at a place like that. This is not a secret mystery: sweaty places are not good places to play. What do you think is going to happen if they catch you?

rude I was not. I asked a question about the points slightly sarcastic maybe. I only thought wtf to myself. I have driven past this place a hundred times and thought I would go in and play in between the day crowd and weekend night crowd. I now know not to go back.
If they catch me? Ive never been caught so I don't know probably be a southern gentleman and just walk out and cash my chips in, in the morning or the next week when I make it back.

It is a mistake to buy in for more than $200 or $300 in a $25 game.

I don't think $500 is all that much (Maybe a tad high but not obscene). Granted I use your $200 to $300 amount because that is what is normal and is below what is needed for the pit to come over.. Thus it does not slow the game down to a crawl when I wong in and might provide the opportunity to fire away a few big bets and leave unnoticed.

    Unless:
    1. You plan to spread your bets over $2-300
    2. You want to get comps
    3. You're planning on playing at a higher than $25 min
    4. Lots of other reasons

    # 1 is simply wrong. You WANT to be pulling small amounts of cash out of your pocket.
    # 2 is absolutely wrong. Your buy-ins having an effect on comps is an old "urban_myth."
    # 3 is of no consequence, as you'd be changing tables to do so.
    # 4 I believe, is non-existent.

    Respectfully, I disagree in part.

    1. Buying in many times can call attention to your play.
    2. I have definitely seen places that comp more based on drop. MGM in particular used to be big on buy-in/losing sessions.
    3. Some people might play black or purple on a $25 table.
