I have more years under my belt than that so maybe I have seen more but I am sure we both don't see a lot of surprises anymore. I think I saw one or 2 in the last year but I can't remember what they were. I just remember being surprised I saw something different than anything I had seen before.

The last "new" thing I can remember seeing is several security guards in the old Fitzgeralds in downtown Las Vegas (that dump was transformed to the newer dump "D") taking turns punching a homeless-looking guy who appeared completely out of it and not resisting in any way. When I called the police, they refused to respond, telling me, "Casino Security says they have the problem under control." I explained that Casino Security is the problem, but to no avail. I wish my cell phone in those days had recording capability.

Later, in an incident involving me directly, Las Vegas Metro Police again refused to respond to crimes being committed by guards, though Gaming eventually did. I suppose we could start a new thread about the ethics (or lack thereof) of so many casino employees.

Casino guards (and casinos) cannot tolerate homeless folks outside their doors or AP's who have no intentions of "gambling" and work formulates to take money from them.

some forums have idiotic AP's, that act like casino guards for the forum and have no tolerance for newbies who post questions ( before researching, doing sim and reading BJ books).

    neither are ethical.

Putting the words "ethics" and "casino guards" in the same thread title may cause the forum software to go into a contradiction spiral and crash the server.

    Norm,

Had to do a double take. Thought you said "ethics" and "lawyers".

Hey, isn't ethics a legal course?

Yes, you have to pass it, doesn't mean you have to agree with, nor accept everyone that is taught/discussed. Why comport with societal norms? Our clients usually don't.

Ahh, does the student become the teacher, or the teacher the student?

Lawyers often have to deal with ethics problems. Not a position I desire. But, a position that may sometimes be required by the adversary system. What sounds unethical can be, at times, the highest of ethics.

Even when those you represent believe that you have sold them down the river by not pursuing claims or arguments that they directed you to assert and pursue. As an officer of the court, you have a professional obligation to the system that periodically is at odds with your obligations owing to your client. Each such situation presents its own dynamics.
