Question on Slots . . . please help.

Am I right in thinking that in LV, and other locations across the sites, there's a state gaming commission/board requirement to display the RTP rate on each slot machiine offered to the general public?

I know that the Nevada GC have a programme of assurance testing to see that slot machines' software return the correct rate that they're supposed to, but don't know whether the rate is shown to players or not. In the UK, slot machine manufacturers are required to display the RTP on B3/C category slots, and have RTP particulars included amongst the helpfile blub (or similar) for each game on a multi-game terminal.

    Many thanks.

I have never seen anything specific anywhere I play. I have seen areas designated as paying out over a certain threshold in LV but the last time I was out there was a long time ago. It is better asked of the regulars like KJ et al.

No there is not only NOT a requirement, but the individual hold of any given machine is a fairly well kept secret. You can assume though that penny and nickel slots return around 88%, Quarters around 90%, Dollars around 92%, and higher denominations return 94% to 95% unless otherwise posted. (Sometimes there is a bank of machines that says "Up to 98% payback" which usually means there is one or two machines returning 98% and the rest return 96%-97%. Those signs that say "Hot Machine" or "Loose Slot" are there because that machine happened to hit a jackpot or two in the week prior and probably returned >100% for that week.

There are tables in the back of "Strictly Slots" magazine which has the average return for slot denominations for various gaming jurisdictions. It's important to keep in mind that those returns are skewed upward by a few percent because those "slot returns" include video poker. So if a casino says their $1 slots return 93% you can assume the actual return is a percent or two lower than that.

No, nothing like that in the US. Believe me, I've tried to get ahold of this data.

Also, this doesn't belong in disadvantage.
