Winging the true count on 1 and 2 deck games.

I find that winging it on the true count on 1 and 2 deck games almost seems to be better than going directly by what the true count says. I think the true count can be kind of deceiving in 1 and 2 deck games. In 1 and 2 deck you can almost go directly off the RC it seems. If its early in the deck/shoe just knock a couple points off the RC to get your TC, if its late in the shoe/deck just add a couple points to the RC. This seems to be easy and effective in my opinion.

    (I'm talking hi-lo count system)
this is also when the RC is positive obviously. I'm talking in terms in sizing your bets according to the count. Negative really makes no difference because you would be min betting so TC is irrelevant(mostly).

the problem is that you are gambling and posts like yours will get AP's upset. It is so very easy to get a TC on single and DD games and AP's are all about being accurate and play is based upon sims. Your comments/views are anecdotal and while they may seem true in the limited time you have been playing, AP's are about long run results based upon the math.

Very inaccurate and not true, especially for single deck.
In single deck, your RC is your TC off the top, and the TC grows exponentially the deeper into the deck you go, so "adding a couple points to the RC" is totally inaccurate.
For example, if 13 cards are left to be dealt in a single deck game and the RC is 5, "adding a couple points to the RC" will give you 7, whilst the mathematically correct true count is 20 -- a lot more than "adding a couple points."

Cutting corners does not work in blackjack, and there is no "easy way out."

Heck yeah! And while you're at it, just pick an index number anywhere between -5 and +10 and go with it. It almost seems to be better than going directly by what the index numbers say.

I wouldn't worry too much about counting a single-deck game, because there is no such thing as a playable single-deck game anymore, at least not in a casino in the US. If anyone knows of such a game, please chastise me and let us all know where it is.

As for a DD game, I think there are effective ways to simplify your counting approach especially if you're just using I18. The most important thing (80% of the value in counting) is that you get your big bet out at TC of +4 or higher. So in a DD game you might want to establish some benchmarks for your big bets. After the first round is played, you probably need to be at RC of +8 to be in max bet territory. Now watch the discard tray - after there's a half deck sitting there, you need to be at RC of +6 for max bet and after 1 deck is in the tray, you need to be at RC of +4, and so on. Also, as for index plays, you'll get most of the meat out of the I18 if you also use your big-bet benchmark (TC +4) for the I18 high-index plays (with the exception of insurance - you need to know where TC +3 is). That's basically what KO Preferred does - it rounds all the high-index plays to +4 and gives up very little EV in the process. Hope this helps. (Ok guys - take it easy on me...)

Wendover. From an EV standpoint, probably still the best blackjack destination in the country.

It is nice that you have learned what makes advantage players upset.

I never said that you should give a shit if they get upset, just prepare for it. Many AP players are poor human beings who live to bully anyone who posts a dumb question and have appointed themselves as guardians of forums they don't own.
