    general comp question

hi this is just a general question but how do comps work these days? I've read Comp City but people keep saying that its outdated and things are different these days. how are they different? the author says bet 'big' when floor is watching - does this really work lol. the floor can't be that blind, the floor only has 4 tables to watch. from what i can gather its betting $200/hand for 4 hours for only a ROOM at aria/bellagio/cosmo.

im going to vegas with my GF soon. if i want to just play for 'fun and comps' i'm thinking of betting min $200 and raising to $400 after a win in a positive count in DD DAS, DOA, H17. can i expect food and shows on top of the room? also what is disadvantage playing 1:2 spread. let's say 200-400 is not enough and i play 300-600 or 400-800, would the the EITS watch me closely? and of course at the end of the day, is it worth playing for comps as opposed to just paying lol

The EYE watches everything you do betting Black.

$200 average for 4 hours won't get you much at the high end casinos that you referenced.

Basically the comp formula is: average bet X house edge X hands per hr. X hrs. played X 0.24

    e.g. $200 X 0.4 X 60 X 4 X 0.24 = $460 These numbers vary at the casino's whim.

If their bottom tier rooms have a "rack rate" of $350 - you'll likely get breakfast thrown in.

so they only give out 24% back now instead of the 40% mentioned in the book?

It has been at 24% (everywhere) for about 3 decades.

40% is also (from time-to-time) used by a casino when they are convinced that the player in question
Is what they call a "Producer"; meaning he is semi-psychotic AND rather intoxicated AND seemingly rich
AND has already LOST very considerable money that day.

Is .0080 x 200 x 60 = 96 bucks an hour in comps is the max amount a host will comp u in Vegas...

Places like mirage on the strip will give u best bet for comps but don't spread there pretty sweaty but will give u better comps than bellagio or ventian or wynn

I wouldn't do this. If you want rooms and free stuff play big VP anywhere other than MGM affiliated casinos (MGM VP comps are crap). If you lose you will be treated very well, if you win you should still get decent offers. Spread big unrated at MGM stores. You won't last long but who cares.
