Online Casino Welcome Bonuses - Are they worth it for Blackjack?

    Hi,

I've recently got into playing Blackjack online and I've been looking into the welcome bonuses offered by some of the big casinos. Unsurprisingly, whilst these offers look good at face value they often require the deposit and/or bonus to be wagered 20+ times with a stake contribution of 10-20% for blackjack. As far as I can tell this means you will lose more than the bonus amount trying to fulfill the requirements of the bonus due to the house edge. This makes sense as casinos want to lure punters in with seemingly good offers and take their money but I've found nothing but positive reviews about casino bonuses when searching online.

Are these offers worthwhile? If not, are there better offers available once you've been a customer for awhile which can be exploited to make money? At the moment it's not clear to me how online blackjack can ever be anything but a sure way to lose money.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,

Call me cynical if you must, but I have no trust in the honesty of sites

    offering the public online wagering.

For an A.P. ~ a deep sense of skepticism is a valuable personality trait.

On top of that, lots of sites distinguish the difference between your cash bankroll and your bonus bankroll. Once you finish playing the play-through requirement, you come to realize, the bonus is just play money or something stupid...and they'll only pay you out on what your cash bankroll is. (You can't see the cash vs bonus bankroll, you only see the sum.)

Of course, not all websites do this. Some are at least partially honest.

My experience is that most sites are honest. But, bonus requirements have become onerous.

Generally they're not worth a light - and the wagering requirements and T&Cs are carefully crafted to ensure they don't lose a cent from offering any bonuses. Do some simple sums on the WR for the game and site you're considering and draw your own conclusion.

They are worth it but you need a big bankroll and bj is usually not the best game to play.
