    My Vegas trip from Downunder!

So I finally made the big trek over from Australia to the US, like any true APer would. Armed with my latest edition of CBJN (Thanks, AussiePlayer!) I was astounded by the vast amount of games on offer. As you're all probably aware, we're faced with 6-8 deck shoes only, most with doubling restrictions. Unfortunately, due to the trip not being one that was gambling oriented, I didn't get to play as many games as I would have wanted to. I did, however, make my way to the El Cortez where I fired away a 1-6 spread without a blink of an eyelid from the pit. I was actually hoping I was 86'd from there, so at least I could say I was booted from the sweaty Spaniard. I played mostly DD games, purely because I had never played them before. Some, of course, were better than others. I did manage to find a game at a place whose name is repeated twice (and has a theme focusing on clowns etc. You all get it). They had a pretty good DD game that was $10 most of the day, with one dealer in particular dealing to 90%+. Most dealt 60% at best, so I tried to follow this one around! I hit the 2:1 BJ promo 3 times during the 3 minute promo, which was a handy bonus, and received some necklaces in the process. I found most of the strip casinos didn't have as good conditions as those off the strip, unless I wasn't looking hard enough. Either that or they were too expensive for my liking. I've got to say, the food there is really overpriced too! I ate at Cabo Wabo Cantina and Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, and boy did it hurt the hip pocket, especially with the current exchange rate. Driving 30 odd minutes out to Henderson I managed to have a Mexican feast for about $10. It was all too much for me to take in on the one trip, I think I'd need to return to appreciate the true magnitude of games available.

A.P. ? Hmmm. An A.P. Has no advantage if expenses negate profits.

You played for low sums at The El Cortez ? Not for long I suspect.

Did you get room comps at least? You weren't getting food comps.

Your "bottom line" - negative - without expectation of profiting ?

I can appreciate your Holiday in La La Land, but as an A.P. Trip ?

An expensive trans-continental flight suggests that you have a big bankroll

(as an A.P.) but was somehow not capable of playing for meaningful stakes.

What was your spread-sheet result for the entire trip ?

I think you are reading too much into it.
The guy took a holiday trip to the US (not only LV) and goofed around while he was there.
Im pretty sure his trip had nothing to do with AP.

Everyone should visit El Cortez at least once. It is a test. I have an old story on this somewhere.

A bunch of years ago, I visited that dump and played a BJ variant that's never been written about publicly, spreading from 1x5 to 2x100. Played for 2 hours, got a headache from their yellow tinted windows and left.

While I understand your desire to defend Flash, I must say that taken at face value his tone was rather dismissive. I recall he actually took a similar tone with me when I first joined--he sent me a PM requesting information on game conditions at a casino I frequented. I gladly shared the information, and then asked if he had any useful tips for me. He then proceeded to make a very large asumption about my bankroll and implied that, at my level, I might not be playing a game with EV above minimum wage. Bear in mind this was at a point where my bankroll was well into the 6 figures, and he had no reason to naturally assume otherwise. He then patronizingly offered me a free copy of that month's CBJN so that I could "do my own research." I didn't know how to respond at that point so I just accepted his offer and that was that, haha.

Everyone I've spoken to on this forum speaks very highly of Flash and I have no reason to believe he is anything but an expert in the ways of AP. I further believe this experience could be very useful in helping both new and existing players. This being said, I don't understand why this gives him, or anyone else, a pass to make unfair assumptions or make unwarranted condescending comments without being called out on it.

    I hear you my friend.
It is not my intention to defend him.
    It was just an opinion.
