So I finally made the big trek over from Australia to the US, like any true APer would. Armed with my latest edition of CBJN (Thanks, AussiePlayer!) I was astounded by the vast amount of games on offer. As you're all probably aware, we're faced with 6-8 deck shoes only, most with doubling restrictions. Unfortunately, due to the trip not being one that was gambling oriented, I didn't get to play as many games as I would have wanted to. I did, however, make my way to the El Cortez where I fired away a 1-6 spread without a blink of an eyelid from the pit. I was actually hoping I was 86'd from there, so at least I could say I was booted from the sweaty Spaniard. I played mostly DD games, purely because I had never played them before. Some, of course, were better than others. I did manage to find a game at a place whose name is repeated twice (and has a theme focusing on clowns etc. You all get it). They had a pretty good DD game that was $10 most of the day, with one dealer in particular dealing to 90%+. Most dealt 60% at best, so I tried to follow this one around! I hit the 2:1 BJ promo 3 times during the 3 minute promo, which was a handy bonus, and received some necklaces in the process. I found most of the strip casinos didn't have as good conditions as those off the strip, unless I wasn't looking hard enough. Either that or they were too expensive for my liking. I've got to say, the food there is really overpriced too! I ate at Cabo Wabo Cantina and Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, and boy did it hurt the hip pocket, especially with the current exchange rate. Driving 30 odd minutes out to Henderson I managed to have a Mexican feast for about $10. It was all too much for me to take in on the one trip, I think I'd need to return to appreciate the true magnitude of games available.
