I would not like to let the pit personnel knows that the/she doesn't know BS ,or remind them to look it up .

    Isn't it BS to surrender both a 15 and a 17 vs A on H17 games?

Wow! Small world, if so. I tried to see if I could send you a private message to see what casino you're thinking of, but couldn't figure out how to do it... would love to chat with someone who plays in my area.

Most casino personnel don't know basic strategy completely but there is a small percentage of people that do. However, if someone did want to know the correct BS play, there is someone in the pit with an index card that can tell you. Casino's don't have to write books to entice players to play like morons, most do that anyways. I see people constantly whine about players not hitting sixteen or doubling down on 9 v 3 yet most of those "table captains" don't know when to double soft hands, hit A 7 against 9 and 10 or split nines against 8 and 9. I would also venture a guess that the movie 21 was good for the casino. Even if most people learned how to count, their bankrolls are so underfunded for that endeavor that instead of generating long term success, most would get broken before seeing success.

For clarification, when I asked the dealer, though I am very new to the game, I did understand BS and that there wasn't a literal book the dealers were referring to. However, the recent thread here on "the book" did catch my attention, remind me of what that player said and prompted me to post my question. LOL

So, if Revere would purposefully and successfully encourage people to over-bet (re: http://www.blackjackinfo.com/ZGInterview.pdf )... couldn't it also be in the casinos' interests (even more so than Revere's) to release a book with similar misinformation in the casinos' favor? Or am I totally over-thinking it because I'm a paranoid newbie?

I just don't want to waste a lot of time and money learning and testing a system that is setup to fail.

LOL. Thought so! I have near-perfect memory and what you said stuck out to me.

Won't say which seat.....good rule of thumb for members here is never reveal, as some lurkers may include casino personnel.

I'm not the only one here who frequents that area though, so you may have played with someone else during that time too.

Just to clear things up before you dive further, there are absolutely no betting systems you can buy or design that will succeed. In fact, I believe the word 'system' is a cuss word around here

Pretty much counting, tracking, and other AP techniques are the only way to get an edge. BS just lowers it. Most counting strategies are the same or similar in advantage, so really as a beginner the best one is the one that works for you. I recommend talking to one of the veterans, I'm not as experienced as them.
