Are the Paid Pages Here Worth The Price

Members here of both BJ21 and this site probably know that BJ21 is going to raise its green chip membership to $79.95 a year. I have never been a member of the paid forums here, but have been a green chip member over at BJ21 for over 15 years.

$36 a year for membership here seems like a baragin compared to BJ21, but then again it depends on the content of the paid forums. When this site first went to paid membership I inquired about the paid sites here and was told by private email they were quite dead. I assumed they were not worth it and stayed at BJ21. I now wonder if volume and content on the paid pages has improved since a couple of years ago. I don't want to embarass anyone or get anyone on Norm's shit list so if you aren't comforable answering here please email me at [email protected]

I don't pay attention to what is payed or not. The theory is the more sensitive stuff will be answered in the paid forum more readily and thoroughly in the paid forum. Obviously I haven't censored my answers but I know many of the most informed have. I think just the ability to PM is probably worth it because the biggest gain you will get is networking. I have tried to help people with info that I will not post in either forum but never did because they couldn't get PM's. This first contact could have led to valuable networks developing.

Frankly, particularly on another popular forum, there are some $$%# AP's who want it to be exclusively for the highly experienced and posting on it is daunting. You post a question and you get nasty sarcastic replies that you should buy software or read this or that book and you often do not get an answer to your question. On this forum, there is not much action on the "card counting" page. However, the cost is relatively low and, in my opinion, it is worth it. even if you cannot ask question.

I'm subscribed and would remain so even if the paid forums were completely silent, simply in order to support Norm for maintaining the site.

    I think it's worth the $36 bucks.

Yet you fly to Vegas with 5k, admit to knowing "just a few of the indexes" and ask guys to runs sims for you all the time.

I am not bashing you, but please don't complain about something if your not helping the situation. When these guys get on here and speak from relevant veteran experience, and you are to ignorant to "order that book" or buy the software YOU SHOULD FEEL LIKE AN ASS.

As far as the paid pages go, I recently purchased the subscription and am still exploring, just the pm feature alone is worth the $36.

No one should be bashing anyone. Yes, I ask for help or repeat questions but the gentleman (Don S, Dr. Wong, and a few others ) do not take the time to bash me or anyone. They just go on to the next thread. It's the A&$@ole's that decide to get their hostilities out. On any forum, if you do not like to answer, you move on. If you have decided that a poster, me, only asks dumb questions, you stop reading my posts. To repeatedly get on a thread to take your hostilities out when you do not own the forum, is a sign of immaturity.

if you see someone in a store or on the road asking for directions (and not from you), do you go up to them and tell them to buy a GPS? You don't have the guts to do it but on a forum, you get to act the know-it-all $$&@$&!

I agree. It's not the money. A long time ago, in the 1980's, I got addicted to BJ while living in San Bernardino, Ca and driving up to Las Vegas every weekend, much to the detriment of my job, my family life. I was addicted. I quit by moving away to Dayton, OH (in those days, there were no casinos in Ohio and most states). Now, when close to retirement (I plan on moving to another city in retirement), I started an adventure to see if 1. I can win in today's game and 2. Can I control my gambling and not be an addict?

i think I can win at BJ. Unfortunately, I may still be an addict, prefer to spend more time in casinos than with my family. I planned to play for 2 years, in my second year now. My family thinks I am an addict, worry that while I may make some money at BJ it will come at the expense of time with family and friends. Next year, I will either move to a city with easy access to a casino or move to a city with no casinos within 200 miles of where I reside. If I should decide to continue playing BJ in retirement and live in a city with casinos nearby, I will most certainly buy the software, spend more time doing research and learning more indexes ( right now it's the I-18). For now, I hold a full time job, have a family and can play occasionally.

not having software and time, I ask questions. Luckily, there are AP's who do respond, some PM me. It is just sad to have to deal with the idiots. They seem to have learned the game from the masters but they do not seem to have learned to be the gentleman that the masters are.

    Smile

I subscribe to both sites and both are worth the money spent. The amount of tips and advice I have received over the years has paid for the fees many times over. I have also meet several AP's via these forms.
Don't over analyze this decision, although I know you will. I have read many of your posts, I enjoy them but you sweat the small stuff too much.
