Thread: Let's say you were going to sit at a table but a person sitting there asked you not

I say "I'll sit out one more hand. You can't expect me to wait any longer."

I don't want to do the wait until they lose a hand thing. What if they don't? Then I just let a juicy count disappear.

And I may sound stern, but I'm not at the casino to cater to the civilians. If they don't like it, too bad!

That being said, if I got some extreme plloppy heat out of it then I'd move on. But that's the only exception. 99% of the time they know I'm coming in whether they like it or not and they'll just sit there with a grumpy look on their faces as I hit my A7 vs 10.

If you don't want to wait just look them in the eye and say, Sorry I am not going to wait to bet. They may not be happy about it but at least you acted like a man and treated them with respect. People get really pissed if you just act like they don't exist when you ignore their request.

There are two ways about this if you're planning on playing at that table.

    1. Say it won't matter and sit down.
    2. Let them lose a hand and then sit down.

Gamblers are hard to please. Hitting your 16, staying your 16; jump in the shoe, don't jump in the shoe; oh I hit this payout, but I want the bigger one! Some of them are never satisfied and it may be a waste of time trying to make them feel any better.

There's a few, the superstition thread and the useful ploppy logic thread.

I hope they get pissed enough to leave. As far as I'm concerned, they don't exist.

I do this mostly when I travel, all the local stores are NMSE.

I assume the question means a request to NOT enter the shoe in progress.

Never seen anyone ask another to not even SIT. If that's the case, sorry dude (or dudette), I'm sittin'.
If they're polite, I'll probably sit out a hand or two. If they want to be a ass, I'll jump in if the count warrants it.

If it is DD (NMSE) and they're the only player, I sit and hold my spot. Maybe they will leave next shuffle

I'm not sure if you missed it, but he mentioned it was no mid shoe entry (NMSE), so he couldn't sit down in the middle even if he wanted to. However, don't let my comment detract from the compliment about metros character. I'm sure he's a fine gent .

Also, a quick question to you or anyone else familiar with games with NMSE: if you stop playing in the middle of the shoe and someone else comes in, does the dealer immediately shuffle or do they continue dealing from the same shoe? I would imagine that this might vary from place to place, so I'd like to know which is the rule and which is the exception from your experience.
