Dealer forgets to burn a card

In a shoe blackjack game in a jurisdiction where burning a card at the start or during a dealer change is part of regulations, would it be reasonable to request the option to back out of the hand?? Please advise.

Sure. It's a good excuse to use in bad count situations.

Is it a regulation or a house policy?

    (3) After each full batch of cards is placed in the shoe, the dealer shall remove the first card and place it in the discard rack.
    (4) Each new dealer who comes to the table shall also remove one card and place it in the discard rack before dealing any cards to the players.

Which state? I frequent a place that has discontinued burning a card when dealers change. I am told this was due to requests by patrons. I suspect their reason for this is to avoid disturbing the flow.

If the state regs say you must burn a card, I think they have to burn a card, or the hand is dead. I don't know how it would turn out in litigation, but I certainly think it's worth asking.

Regarding Native American casinos, I think some states go with the total "sovereign nation" thing and the only commission/control is by that nation and some other states have some additional oversight by a state gaming commission. One size doesn't fit all.

You can ask for an option after the cards are dealt if you want. It sounds like it may be required to be a dead hand if they stop the game long enough to do the research. Te would mean all your hands are dead and your money will be returned. I have won almost every dispute with a casino in the end but sometimes tat is winning the battle and losing the war. Casinos don't have to let you play. Do you profit if the game slows to a crawl? Is it really a good idea to get surveillance involved?

In that case, the state compact would prevail.

It would, but in the state I'm thinking of, it appears that they know very little of what goes on "out in the field" and that the Natives enjoy carte blanche.

I play one place in Las Vegas where they never burn more than one card, which is at the beginning of the deal with the newly shuffled cards. No matter how many dealers appear, no other cards are burned. It's refreshing.

Yeah, enforcing the law tends to be the bigger problem in almost all gaming cases.
