I only get mad when the count is high. Taking all the faces. When it's low be my guest. I need those smalls outta there
May the cards fall in your favor.
"The Two is the dealers Ace!", chants out a player at the table. Have you ever heard that one? I had someone say that at the table, another at the table nodding in agreement as I say, "What if the dealers Two is... the dealers Two and not an Ace at all though?!" A few hands later I hit an A,7vsT (which just happens to take the dealers bust card) so now they are mentioning how I don't know how to play. A few hands down the line after that I hit a 12vs5, they think I'm crazy and/or "not playing right"... by the time you get through too much time they are blaming you for their wins or losses that you truly have nothing to do with. The dealers two is the dealers two, period. Who invented this stupid saying that I've heard repeated randomly over the years here and there? Superstitious players, even superstitious casino personnel!
I've had the world's worst blackjack players sitting next to me at times over the years and pretty much ignore them, their action for the most part (I look at their cards but seldom if ever pay attention to their hands or how they play them) but after hearing that silly statement a few too many times over the years I just had to say something. A lot of people seem to rely upon superstition and luck over anything a little more tangible. Next time if you want to have some fun, simply blurt out "Holy crap and all these years I thought the dealers two was the dealers two... so THAT's what I've been doing wrong!" in a shocked and surprised manner...
The first time I ever heard "The two is the dealers Ace!" was in Vegas about 25 years ago. The last time I heard it was twice in the same road trip in two separate locations within the last month or so. Total nonsense has lingered on and passed down from generation to generation? When I hear it I notice it coming from novice players, saying it with conviction even... as if they knew it to be true. Amusing to is hearing it from someone and then not long after be critiquing my play! It's not like I'm going to explain to their dumb asses that I have a dead on exact RC/TC, know exactly how many nines are left, know there are more twos and threes remaining than fours and fives, etc. and that by the way they bet too much and are now about to make the worst EV playing decision on top of that because they are clueless boneheads that think "The two is the dealers Ace!". It was afterward that I thought about how hilarious it was to have a couple of recreational players critique my play based on ploppy logic or whatever you wish to call it. To hear the same stupid saying 25 years later is pretty whacked out also.

Thanks Tarzan , your posts are always a great fun to read ; a dose of reality from a perspective of experienced-clarity .
“It seemed to me ... that any civilization that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a package of toothpicks, was no longer a civilization in which I could live and stay sane.”
Hey, MSA!
To answer your question directly, "No, there is no credence to the popular conception that a "bad" player can cause the table to lose in the Long Run." Like everyone else here, I hear this nonsense ALL THE TIME. It just never ends. I use it all the time, too, to deflect suspicion because you sound like a typical degenerate if you spout this rubbish at the appropriate times. ("The 2 is the Dealer's Ace" is one of the most common stupid statements I hear and it is mostly the Dealers who say it.)
Unlike others, however, I DO pay attention to any other people at the table. I study them all carefully so I can interact with them and seem as stupid as they seem to deflect attention from my play.
There are other uses for other players at the table. For example, if someone steps up who is a BIG bettor (much bigger than you are), you can often increase your spread a bit without drawing attention if your spot is far enough away. It may only work for a couple of key hands but it can be a big help.
Or, you can buddy-up to someone who is clearly a REGULAR who bets a lot and act as if he's your BFF and always has been. If he is receptive, this will cause the staff to wonder if you guys really ARE friends and they may let you get away with larger spreads since they don't want to lose the regular by hassling you.
There are many ways to use the other players at a table that will increase your longevity and spread if you use your imagination.
Take care,
SiMi
Hi There, I'm getting back into Blackjack after a very long lay off. I need some help on where to find a "Basic Guide" that relates to my Casino in New Zealand. Example, we can't double on any Ace Hand over here. All the ones I have look at show you can. Can you or anyone help me here ? Thanks Wazzy.

1) It doesn't make any difference how someone else plays! Period! Long term or short term.
2) The order of the cards bull. in a 6D shoe there are more ways to order those cards than almost anything. I ran it through an online calculator of 312! It came out to 2.1 X 10**644. Enough said.
3) One superstition I hear is a ten always follows an ace. I don't know what to say!
4) And let's not forget "The books don't know what they're talking about!"
My Ability in Blackjack is a Gift from God!!
