If you live in Vegas, everything doesn't fit so cut and dry, black and white into the columns of a spread sheet. You have to add 'life' to the equation. When I get in the car or on a bus, few trips are 100% about business. Maybe after a doctor visit, I play a session at GVR. Maybe on the way to Walmart to buy some shorts and detergent, I stop at Longhorn casino and play a single hand with a matchplay coupon. Maybe on a trip to Red Rock Canyon for some exercise, I play 30 minutes at Red Rock Casino. On a trip downtown for a show at The Smith Center, I might hit D resort to play through $40 of free play from my mailer. Sometimes on a Saturday night, I will ride the Deuce from the strip to downtown, just to watch the humanity, with no intent on playing, but then decide to play one bet cycle at El Cortez, using a busier night for cover. Maybe I am heading to Henderson, just to get a couple cookies from my favorite bakery, but end up playing somewhere on the way, or 'not' exactly on the way home. Maybe I head to a casino on a sunday afternoon, just to watch my Eagles play, and end up hitting the tables for an hour. It is all very muddled.

Since you place so much emphasis on turning everything into dollars and cents, you would surely be appalled at some of my actions. Sometimes I drive to Club Fortune in Henderson, just for the $1.50 breakfast. Sometimes I drive to Cannery Casino up north on Craig Road, just to play a $10 free bet coupon and eat at the buffet with a 1/2 off coupon. Surely, if you figure in gas, neither of these activities is a bargain. It's not just purely about dollars and cents. It's entertainment and the pursuit of life, Vegas style for me. I don't expect any of this to make sense to you or your spread sheet. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have added my comments to this thread. It was done in a light-hearted kind of humorous way, showing what is likely a different approach than what many players do....getting in the car and driving 2 hours each way to play 5 hours.
I gave you credit for having other reasons to ride the bus. On that day you could have made more driving, that's it.
For this your favorite bakery is irrelevant I also like cookies, but that has nothing to do with an expense discussion. The biggest issue is in Vegas can't play constantly at high stakes. So need to do something to recreate, whatever that is.
I barely know what a spreadsheet is.

Kj and three you need to read my posts again.

    Nothing wrong with liking cookies
Nothing wrong with driving and eating out
Nothing wrong with seeing your doctor and hitting the close by casino, that's smart
    Nothing wrong with liking busses

    However,
If you claim to be making savings PER UNIT OF TIME! by taking the bus you are losing a lot of money by wasting time. Another way to look at it. If he would have taken his car that day he would have been

home sooner with more $ to recreate!

I know how KJ can save a lot on expenses, walk everywhere! This also covers three's concerns about longevity. Kj will be walking so much he won't play much. Sounds familiar to his day on the bus, doesn't it

Now if Kj thinks time on a bus is a fun way to. Do Vegas, go for it

Yes, one can overplay a casino or town. However, the biggest problem is winning and expenses can make that impossible

Being more efficient with play means more time to recreate. I know this because I ran it through a spreadsheet

I also like kj commentary, but he says to much

What really sucks is being caught in a snowstorm on the highway and not moving in 4+hours
