Baltimore Horseshoe is trying to get rid of 300 slot machines

I am chilling after a long work week. My wife has the news on and a story about the Horseshoe Baltimore trying to get rid of 300 slots to make room for more table games. They are saying there is a lot more profit to table games than slots. I guess the gamblers on the East Coast do pay attention to how fast their BR lasts just like I have been saying. For whatever reason table games are in and slots are out.

I believe it. The table game action there is ridiculous! Theyhave a Pit of nothing but three card, multiple HL craps tables scattered throughoutthe place, and I won’t speak on the BJ pit(s) -____- . However, it does make sensethat they want more TG’s opposed to slots/ relating to maximizing revenue.Slots in PA, WV, NJ, OH, and MD are typically set to hold between 8-13% over eternity. There is also a “set” hold per gaming day. Tables do not have the same requirement,if there is 1 million dropped on a gaming day throughout a casino there isnothing that stops the casino from holding up to 100% if everyone loses ( Thisis where we come into play and assist them in giving some of that back ;p.) You have table games like big wheel 6,roulette, four card poker and Mississippi stud where the HE is higher than theslot machine set hold. Their only downfall with adding table games is it costsmore. A roulette table on average costs roughly 20-25k. I think adding tables willwork out in their favor, considering most of the time there, there is a minimumbet requirement of $25. Hopefully in the mist of adding table games they tossin a few double deckers. I may have to make a few minor adjustments to get partof the action if that’s the case.

    Best,
    Tom

Doesn't CET have a bunch of table games tables left over from closing the Showboat?

I would imagine CET does have remains. But I’m not certainthat roulette tables get recycled. Blackjack tables however do get secondhanded. Rip the felt off, throw on the latest felt and in 10 minutes the gameis back in action. Roulette on the other hand, not to likely consideringHorseshoe Baltimore is top of the line and Showboat is/was old as crust. Alsothe fact that the table must be 100% level to abide by state regulations to putthe game into operation. Most of the new casinos that I’ve been to are goingwith top of the line roulette boards, wheels, etc. A little off topic, but I recentlyread an article that discussed casinos planning to install cameras in moreroulette tables because of chip scams (walking with $1 denom. and have them broughtback into the game as a higher denom).
