    Bet Increase Limit

Hello all. I recently witnessed something I haven't seen before. During a recent session I saw someone try to raise his bet from $10 to $75. When he did this, the pit told him that he could only increase his bet by 4 times his previous bet or in this case to $40. At the beginning of a shoe you can have any bet up to the bet max and not have it be tied to your previous bet. However any time during the shoe you are limited to increase your bet by no more than 4x your previous bet. Interesting.

Was it AC or Missouri? If so, they were probably subject to a bet restriction because they were counting.

This was a Vegas casino. Of interest there are other casinos managed by the same group that don't have this limitation.

Yet another self-defeating rule by a lazy casino. Gamblers take shots on a regular basis.

I often get offered an exemption to rules that apply to the other players. There is a bit of an art to pulling this off when you are what the rule was designed to control. I will not talk about the technique on the open forum but there is a window that you can pull it off in at each casino you play in. It gets harder and harder to keep that window from closing as time goes on. I am not sure but having pulled this off may be a deficit once the window has closed. I am questioning whether this should be attempted at anywhere except rarely visited venues.

Had this same rule apply to me in a Vegas casino. I just sat down to play there and they had no record of me from before. I think it was just a "blanket" rule they enforced (not sure if it's the same casino you're speaking of but interesting, nonetheless). Perhaps this is a more common rule at some places than we realize?

I have seen this dealers push back bets from recreational players in Vegas a number of times due to this rule. There are at least several places that have it as a blanket restriction.

I can imagine my drunk crazy obnoxious, well-bankrolled cousins, out on one of thier many weekend - benders , casinos should know - they are not counters , they would never put in one minute of effort to learn anything for counting - And, this is exactly the stuff they hate - restrictions to drunken recklessness , I could just see them deciding to go somewhere else with less rules and restrictions ...

Does this rule matter? Most AP has 16 to 1 spread on shoe game. It just takes two steps to get there.
