One guy at a table in Reno said to me "that's a lousy cut." I laughed because I thought some dumb casino humor. He told me that a professional told him that you should always cut 3/4 of the way in! Then I laughed in his face.

BTW he was splitting 5s. lol.

    Years of experience have taught me never to split 5s unless I know the cards following, preferably, 5, 5, 6, 10, 6, 10, 6, 10, 6, and 10.

I once had an "expert" start lecturing me on how dumb it was to use surrender. Said he had written blackjack books (!).

I was at a table once where there was a novice counter. He was obviously concentrating very heavily as if it took all he could do to keep the count. When the waitress came by and asked him if he wanted anything to drink, he responded "+3."

The moment it came out of his mouth, he realized his mistake and shrunk to about a quarter of his size. Fortunately for him, there was no pit around. It took all I could to keep my composure to pretend that I didn't know what he was talking about!

Moral of the story: Make counting such a second nature thing so that you don't accidentally say out loud what's in your head!

Note: To his credit, his RC was correct.

That is hilarious! I often wonder if I've ever done the same.

Had an old lady (pretty decent BS player at that) raz me for surrendering, stating "I'm gonna fight to the end, and if i lose I lose"....and she did.

That's happened to many good CCs I know. I think it happened to me once. The waitress looked at me like I had "alligators crawling out of my ears"; IOW HUH????

Was playing with a guy last week who got dealt aces and he was definitely excited about it. That is, until he saw the dealers ten. After the dealer checked and his turn came up he started to panic, not sure whether to split or not. Thank God he didn't ask me what to do. After vocalizing about it for a bit, he decided to hit instead of splitting, promptly busting out after drawing paint twice. Needless to say, he was quite disappointed. I just kept my head down and my mouth firmly shut. Not an expert, but this seemed a good time to share this little story.
