    Casino Play

Just had a quick newbie question I wanted to throw out there. I got an invite in the mail today for a tournament that pays out in casino play. Now, I know that this can only be used at the property that I win it at, but is it restricted to just slots, or can it also be used for blackjack/table games? And at what point (if any) can it be cashed out and how? My main concern is I don't want to waste a trip to Vegas to play in a tournament that is only going to pay out in what amounts to little more than slot play. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You want it on slots not table games (usually). $1000 in table play is worth about $490 or so (depending on the game) if the dealer takes the free chip on a win. $1000 in Free Slot Play is worth $995 if you play it on full pay 9/6 Jacks or something in the mid 99% payback range. The Table Play could be worth $995 as well on blackjack if they pay 3/2 on naturals and leave winning free bets up. Check with the house rules, but you can't go wrong just taking it as free slot play and spinning it off on Video Poker. Even if you run it off on something like $1 Double Diamond Slots $1000 in Freeplay is worth about $925 which is far better than table play if winning free bets don't stay up.

Basically what BP said. I would just post subtle differences and everything he said was right. Figure promotional chips that you lose win or lose on even money bets are worth about 50% of the face value minus HE. Promo chips that play until they lose are like cash (about 100% of the value minus HE) that you must play in the casino for 1 losing bet. If they let you convert it to free slot play it is worth the payback times the value of the fee slot play on whatever game you choose. You need to find out what the payoff is to determine the value of the prize. I played in a $250K invite only tournament and they lied about what the prize was. I almost made the final table and my partner made the final table. They said it would be paid in play until you lose promotional chips but he was in fact paid in play once promo chips. That made the prizes worth half as much. We might not have gone for the actual payment but obviously were fine with the promised payout of play until you lose promo chips.
