The general public needs to be made aware of the issue imo.

I can't wait to get back to Vegas. There are good games if you know where to look. A lot depends on your style of play and the kind of games you're looking for. But if you won't be satisfied unless you get deep pen and good rules (.19%HA), earth is strictly off limits.

In fact I am! The red chip players who got cleaned out too quickly are now turned off from gambling forever instead of being teased with a nearly fair game and wanting to increase their bet sizes to keep chasing that rush. 6:5 does not repeat business make, or at least I would hope so.

I was just thinking about this thread. If I owned a casino and had someone monitoring this site, I think when I saw posts made by AP's telling other APs not to visit my casino, I would say my guys are doing a good job, pat them on the back and say keep up the good work.

Since non AP's (so called Ploppies by some) don't take the time to read forums like this, all of our customers are going to be non AP's and we are going to introduce 6:5 BJ, cut down the odds on every game and skin them alive.

I think a small weekly ad in a local newspaper advising people not to visit such and such casino because the games are no good and if you get lucky and win they will hassle you and bar you from playing would get their attention because casinos spend millions on advertising and some bad publicity would send them a wake up call.

Afterthought: If somehow we could all chip in say $50 or so a month and have someone reliable handling the funds, we'd have the funds for an 'anti casino campaign that would really put the hurt on some casino for a month or two. Just think how a casino exec would gag when he turned on the radio and there was a commercial advising people to not visit his casino because his sorry games only paid 6:5 on a blackjack and how it hurt your odds. That would get some attention.

In that case, you would fit in well with most casino management
You are oblivious to the fact your job is to maximize the casino's bottom line and are unaware that the casino bosses who understand the math and don't sweat every penny are typically the most profitable. Examples, Zender's Aladdin of yore and Wendover.

Eventually, 6:5 will become so commonplace that people will think nothing of it. Besides, 6:5 is bigger numbers than 3:2 so it must be better! As increasingly you must explain the rules of Blackjack to people and a shortcut strategy for playing, 6:5 becomes just another part of the explanation. It's better than even money! Hey, now there's a novel idea!!!

Exactly my point or they wouldn't be a sweat shop to start with now would they?

The Gaming Commission in Nevada should have NEVER allowed 6-5 BJ payoff. It' "ain't" real blackjack by definition. But we know who controls the gaming commission in Nevada. Anthropology and "evolution" occur.........in the mass scale of things. Less BJ players over time......begets less tables over time.........for whatever reason even if there is NO study to directly correlate it to 6-5 yet, but eventually enough people know or "feel" that winning $30 on a $20 bet is better than winning $24 on that same bet. The casinos in my opinion are making the games impossible to win........when johnny public realizes that they can't win at the game, they will vote with their feet and quit playing. I think statistics will reflect that there are less "bodies" playing blackjack. The casinos need to realize that they are in the game for the "true long run". If you keep fleecing the customers and driving them away, then you start to lose that income base. Slowly over time it WILL happen. It IS happening now.

It's the illusion that the games can be beaten that draws the general public to the table. Most........we know that from here.....the vast majority of players will not even learn basic strategy to play. Much, much less become proficient counting. They (the casinos) are digging their own graves in the long run. You HAVE to give the illusion that you can win at this game!

Johnny Public has left the building. Good post MJ. Winning and losing are both addicting. I see it in my friends all the time. From slot machines to sportsbets they cannot quit when they are ahead...and odds or handicapping skills suggested little chance of victory in the first place. So when the losing streak hits them hard enough they just quit...until they forget how much it hurt and try again with the same approach.

Well I just got back from my trip to Vegas. Had some pretty solid success playing the rim casinos at my red chip stakes. Aliante didn't give me trouble but I am a red chipper, so I dunno. Didn't encounter any other APs. Stayed in the Grand in the west wing and the Mirage. I think the Mirage was actually nicer.

If I was a casino manager perhaps I would consider my competition and just go straight to offering an amazing 10:8. Everyone will we gawking at my amazing payout . "That's more than three times as good as the old blackjack payout". 10:8 is better than 6:5 anyways, I would be doing them a favor!

Add another casino to the worst... the lion place at the NE corner of Tropicana & LV Blvd. All tables below $100 min bet pay 6:5.

I let my subscription to CBJN lapse at the first of the year so this may be old news for some.

For the uninitiated, that would be MGM Grand.

I used to play there a lot. This really saddens my heart. Is this for sure? It doesn't sound like that chain's general policy.
