16 Decks Shuffled, 8 Deck Shoe

I'm taking a trip to nearby AC but heard their BJ is unacceptable these days. I was thinking of stopping by Pennsylvania casinos, the one I called told me they are using 16 decks, 8 decks per shoe. Do you know how this affects basic strategy and where oh where I can find a calculator for this scenario? This wouldn't fall under the 8 deck strategy, right? Other rules are S17, DAS, Late Surrender.

So your going to play an 8 deck game. Have a good time. 2 different sets of 8 decks in an auto shuffling machine or either hand shuffled is what your going to be up against.

Thanks but your reply hasn't helped me any. I take it you wouldn't sit at an 8 deck game at all.

If the number of cards cutoff is the same, there isn't much difference in win per 100 for 4dk, 6dk, or 8dk. 4dk is slightly better than 6dk which is slightly better than 8dk but the difference between each is very slight. There is nothing wrong with 8dk.

They use two seperate 8 deck shoes in rotation, one is in pay while the other is being shuffled in a machine. This is the most common way blackjack is dealt IMO and im surprised you ahvnt seen it.

There is no significant strategy difference for 8 deck games, just play the basic strategy that you know with your indexes, the indexes will put you onto the correct strategy mostly anyways.

If your playing in pennsylvanaia, ALL GAMES ARE LATE SURRENDER GAMES, there are no exceptions, so be sure to surrender when applicable.

To maximise value on 8 deck games you gotta just sit out and refuse to play as many hands as possible.

If your playing in Atlantic city, all games are shitty, or no midshoe entry.

    This is good general advice.

I would clarify that it can get a lot more complicated. i.e. with 1.5 cut off, 6 deck is better than both 8 and 4. So, when analyzing a game, run a sim on that game, or at least look at blackjack attack or some canned sim.

I see however I haven't been lucky enough to find anything less than 8 decks nearby me. But will remember your advice, thank you!

No 8 deck in my area but are you sure 6 deck is better than 8 with 1.5 cut off? (75% vs. 81%)

Looking at the canned CVCX sims it does appear to be true. With 1.5 cuts 6D slightly outperforms 8 and but however 4D slightly outperforms 6. I resorted to playing a 1.5 cut 6D today and it does suck. Just when the count gets juicy the cut card comes out. I made money though thanks to one early juicy shoe.
