The casino has insurance and most thieves are looking to score without a fight.
many casinos have police on the property.

You would be surprised how polite and cooperative a group is when everyone is armed.

Dead man's hand. Don't know the whole story. He ran wagon trains up the Oregon Trail and played Poker on the side.

    Why would that be amazing?

Exactly. There were policemen, sheriff's deputies, an ATF agent and regular folks, men and women, at our game. Criminals stayed as far away from us as they could get. That game was the safest place in town.

Mofungoo all it takes is for one sore loser to start dropping dimes and the next thing you know... the doors are getting kicked in while people are yelling, "Everyone down, this is the police!" While heads start to roll professionally.

If half the people are packing firearms or knives in a home game I do think it is amazing that nobody got hurt in that card game. If I was running such a game I wouldn't allow personal weapons for the threat of being robbed or someone getting seriously hurt. It's hard for me to say that because I am guilty myself of taking knives into poker games where I thought the people were a bit shady but it's not a common practice.

I'm not honestly sure how those two things are connected. I suppose you're reasoning that people with guns shoot them occasionally and sometimes they hit people, but it seems like sort of a stretch that now random gamblers are at risk. I'm not going to be the one to derail it, but I'm surprised people haven't taken more offense to that comparison. Anyway, we're considering that a few suits around the casino get guns? Frankly I'd be surprised if they don't already, but if they don't and then do now, no it wouldn't really be a concern to me. Don't try to rob them or threaten anyone (same rules in the real world) and there's a 0% chance they'll even draw it. If anything, in the equally unlikely scenario a gunman goes postal on a casino (great idea, tons of cubbies to hide behind, cameras everywhere, built like a maze), I might feel a little safer, I guess. In any case, I equate getting shot down in a casino for no reason about with getting eaten by a shark.

I'm sure I'm running afoul of the politics rules in saying this, but no, law-abiding people don't just murder someone when they get annoyed if a weapon is present.

Moo when a home game is going on the last thing anybody wants is for someone to get hurt. But when you combine liquor, weapons, and card playing things can and do happen. Especially if people have had way too much to drink and their losing BIG.

I have played in many such games. Things only go south when there isn't any firearms present. Like I said you would be amazed how polite and cooperative people are when everyone is armed. It is just when only criminals are armed that they brazenly use firearms. If you were in the room with maybe 10 people all armed why in the world would you pull a gun unless you had a death wish. You are never going to get everyone. I think you watch too many movies.
