Smh, you must've skimmed the thread. The ante is paid from the player pool, not from my stack.

I'm confused, why would I never play the game again? For fear of being backed off. I would rather play til then than stop now. A self imposed back off.

all of us are probably confused at this point , looking back you said "basically" the casino pays it ... what does " basically" mean ? because this is the difference of the whole game , if players don't pay an ante , then its not really an ante then , is it , what is going on with this ante exactly ? , because its huge .... after a hundred hands its enormous.

I don't pay the ante, I tried to explain the system they use.. But it's really not relevant, I do not pay them. If I put out 2 $250 bets, that all I put out.. If I win them both I win $500.. Normal blackjack. My mistake was trying to explain the casino inner workings due to the local gaming laws.

I guess go for it , the reason i might have been mixed up is as follows:

    1) it's an ANTE , but you don't have to ante-up to play a hand

    2) Money comes from a PLAYERS POOL , but you , being a player , you don't have to pool your money for this players pool,

    3) the casino pays for all of this
    .

Why would anybody be confused about these terms? simple as pie.
my apologies , I'm now taking back my comment about never going back.

Love your posts Nikki. Sorry I couldn't find the right words to explain the system they use. I have another place I'm considering giving action where the player does pay antes, but only once I have the bankroll to play a 100-2000 ramp. A long way away, but a guy can dream. I got a12k roll. Looking for $200,000 to consider the other game.

Nikki, the casino can only profit from the ante. All money made on the game that is not ante is put in a players pool to be given back to players in the form of giveaways and promotions. The only way that money is supposed to get in the pocket of the casino is on promotional days where the players pool pays the ante for the players. At that point the money becomes ante and the casino can take it. So on these promo days the players don't pay the casino the ante, the players pool pays the casino the ante. The players pool is the money made as profit from the game sans the ante. Get it?

my apologies , I'm now taking back my comment about never going back.

I'm not sure exactly where he is playing, Nikky, but I'm going to guess it's somewhere close to my jurisdiction. The confusion, for you players who DON'T play in Indian Casinos, is that they take a rake as an administrative cost off each hand played. Players call it an "ante" as do the casinos but it's NOT an ante like you play in poker. Something you throw into the pot.

The reason is technically the games are financed by the players. Not directly like in CA where a player can bank the game, but because the entire winnings or pool of money lost or won is paid from a common pool. The tribe remits payment of the total net "pool" won in part to the state for taxes; retains a portion as part for their "administrative expenses". The remainder is SUPPOSED to be paid back to the players "en masse" through promos, winnings, prizes, drawings, tournament fees, etc. So it's a player pool "generically" as to the total amount bet by players. And the ante is paid by the "players' pool" to the tribe as their administrative expense. It's normally paid directly by the players but many have days (usually weekdays or non-prime time) they do NOT require the player to individually pay the "ante" (or rake), if that makes more sense. Or they do it all the time per their special promo.

That may be clear as mud; but if you play here it makes sense. Chuck D can clarify if I'm not understanding correctly where he is playing.

Wish you could PM so you should join here. Without naming the place specifically, I'm going to guess NE part of state. There are limited DD games anywhere around me. (Central) And the rules you stated are JUST a little different from theirs. Always interested in more education in this game by local players. Sounds like you are doing alright!
