I agree BP, I was thinking more of a international bank wire transfer directly to an account in Australia or a call girl robbed him. Another thing to consider is the police report if cash was indeed stolen.

Does anyone besides me wonder why Original Poster hasn't added anything to this thread? Inquiring minds want to know.

He probably gave as much detail as he was comfortable giving. I am leaning to a woman in his room drugging him to take the money from the room safe. For those tempted by women when plying their skillz in a casino it is not that uncommon. Casino room safes aren't as secure as we would like them to be. I came to find mine already locked once. A simple electronic device opened it in seconds when the maintainance guy came. Another time it was locked but not closed. The first combination I tried unlocked it. When on a business trip such as we take do yourself a favor and stick to business.

Without knowing any further details than Koz's description, Unfortunately it sounds exactly like a scam which was detailed in this program http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2207986/

Hooker drugs tourist and takes him to hotel room. He passes out she calls boyfriend to rob him. Problem is Hooker uses too much drugs and tourist ends up in coma.

Hi all. Just to clarify, I am in no way suggesting the casino was behind this. In fact, I highly doubt it at all. Unfortunately, I think my friend was simply the victim of a criminal/criminals.

How certain are you that you are not a victim?

He is a victim. He owned a portion of that money. The question you are asking is can you trust the teammates story?

The more crazy a story sounds generally the more likely it is to be true. If the guy wanted to steal the money then why wouldn't he just claim he had a couple of shoes from hell? To lose 28k with a max bet of $500 wouldn't be too hard.

I know for fact this stuff does happen in the world and I believe the little bit of the story I have heard but I would like to hear the full story if Koz wouldn't mind divulging. I too am an Australian who is heading to Vegas in the next couple of months so hearing about his friends memories just prior to him being drugged would make me feel better. i.e. Was it a girl? Where did she approach him? stripper/hooker/waitress what?

Do you know how many times women trying to seduce me at the table? After seeing me bet big and win big, some will sit by my side just in hope to hook up. They have no ideas or pretend to have no ideas how to play to start the conversation. But $100 can only buy them a few minutes. Many lost four hands in a roll and had to quit after I gave them the "definitely not interested" impression. You see, to risk $100, what they want to get in return is much more. These girls come to clean you up.
