That is the most effective way to control variance.

I do well when I play 2 hands and get killed playing 1.

Except for the times I do well playing 1 and get killed playing 2 spots.

But there are times it doesn't seem to make a difference.

    I hope that is helpful.

I thought it was because numbers that were very big had to follow certain rules or they went to jail...no?

Haha, but you are right. It won't make a difference in the long run. Thanks.

It's true. You also have to time the table slap with the landing of the face card when your first card is an ace while yelling "monkeeeee!".

Well it looks like my curse has been reversed.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my post and helped change the flow. LOL.
I think now I should place a bet on the Cubs to win the World Series.

it is just variance . if it bothers you ,that means your bank is too small or your bet is too high for you to feel comfortable.

Someone commented about playing multiple hands to reduce heat but I've actually found the exact opposite. After about a year playing single hands with typical spreads with minimal heat I decided to change things up and try to assume an even more low profile by playing the grifters gambit (which is actually spreading at NEGATIVE counts). Anyways I immediately found a subtle display of heat the minute I started spreading hands (again even though this was done at negative counts). So from my experience I came to the conclusion that heat is almost always the result of either spreading your bet, or spreading your hands.

Spreading to two hands generating heat seems to be an lv thing more than other locations, particularly double deck. Starting with two and dropping to one or dropping out of shoe entirely seems to buy a little more time, at least at my bet level.
