    I'm Cursed Playing 2 Hands

It seems that everytime I play 2 hands, I get my brains beat in.
I usually start with 1 hand, & then switch to 2 hands when the opportunity arises. I might use changing the flow as my excuse to switch.
I'm having a very good year overall, but for the past 4-5 months, I have had my big losses when playing 2 hands, and my big wins playing 1 hand.
It's gotten to the point where I am getting gun shy about playing 2 hands.
After going a few days only playing 1 hand, I told myself this is just variance, I'm giving up EV and I have to go to 2 hands when I can.
So I'm at a table with 1 other player, at +3 I switch to 2 hands & lose all bets for few rounds, the other player leaves, count is +4, I go back to 1 hand and win 5 large bets in a row.
And this pattern continued throughout the day. This is just an example of what's been happening.
I know anything can happen in the short term, and that I just need to keep firing with 2 hands, but I can't help having this ploppy thought that I am better off playing 1 hand.
Has anyone experienced something like this, and how did you fight it?

i have had the same thing happen for my last two trips. I won 8 trips in a row but the last two trips I couldn't win a hand if my life depended on it. Maybe I just need to play NO hands. hehe

I believe the optimal amount of hands depends on how many players are at the table. Read it somewhere in Blackjack Attack

    That's not the point.
We all know the strategy to play 2 hands when there are other players at the table, but to play 1 hand when heads up, assuming of course that the count is favorable and considering heat issues.
My issue is that, even though I know that by going to 2 hands, I get 50% more money on the table in favorable situations,
I am hesitating to do this cause I always seem to lose when I play 2 hands. I know this is not mathemathically based, and my advice to myself should be to not hesitate.
I am just looking for some reinforcement from others who may have had similar situations.

In before "there are other players at the table?"

But really though, don't worry about it. Two handed play is awesome. You just have to stomach the variance as it is higher than one handed play, as you've seen.

You accomplished what you set out to do. You changed the flow.

You've made the observations, you've taken notes, you've discerned a trend. If it hurts when you do that, don't do that.

Screw the mathematics. Do what works.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Wrong. Mathematics do work over the long haul.

Thanks muff and everyone else for your comments. Have to believe in the math or we're not APs.

If someone makes a bet with you and you pay $1 when you lose and collect $1.012 when you win. You play for two hours and you are behind. Do you still keep playing or do you quit?

Well Bodarc..........wink/wink...........that depends upon the odds against you when you lose (frequency) and the odds with you when you win (frequency).
