    Realistic expectations and survey?

On one of the post here, BigPlayer says "There is an income ceiling to card counting beyond which it's hard to pass. (low to mid six figures per year is about the max that someone can make from straight counting assuming their style of play doesn't get them barred everywhere they could play)." I would say, maybe 1% made 6 figures, 5 % made mid 5 figures and the rest fall below.

has as anyone done a survey of Card Counters and AP's that asks questions such as the one below. Pick...mine is #7.

    1. 1 made over $500k playing BJ in the past 12 months.

    2. I made between $300k and $500k ...

    3. I made $100k plus ...

    4. I made $75k plus...

    5. I made $50k plus

    6. I made 25k plus

    7. I made $15k plus..

    8. I made 1k plus.

    9. I made under $1k

    10. I lost last year

in about a year or so ill be playing high stakes and i should be able to get mid 6 figures easily. Bigplayer is about right in his calculations, but keep in mind that's not to say you cant make more than low to mid six figures, i believe he just said that because that's the most you can get away with this day and age without getting barred. Mid 6 figures is about a top bet of 2x500, sometimes lower depending on if you wong in and as you can see betting more than a max bet of 2x500 might start triggering some heat even if they think you're an idiot, but still possible to get away with.

I just moved up from red. That is, I now play 50% 6 deck, minimum $10 with max bet of $125 and 50% DD games with $25 min. And max bet of $250. It has been a psychological challenge that convinces me that I could never ever play 2 x $500. So, I will likely stay with Low greens. I think personality and BR dictates how much one can earn.

Have you bought CVCX yet? You shouldn't have that big of a difference in your max bet from one game to another (6 deck vs. double deck). I still contend that using CVCX to learn how to bet optimally will make you (or save you) far more than what you pay for the software.

This should be an anonymous poll and at the end of the year. I will just say it has been a very very good year as a whole.I haven't played as much as previous years and won 3 to 4 times more this year. You want it quantified make it anonymous.

The 10 categories don't tell us much. Did a number 8 make $1001 or $14,999? Let's say it was 2k. Was that made in two bets or did it take 500 hours?

I agree but its not about what the software says, its comfort level, playing rated and the heat issue. I mostly play the games where they know me and I know them. Any spread over about 1-12 or 1-15 is asking for heat and scrutiny. Thus, at the 6 deck, $10 min. table, where I am playing two hands of $10 in TC=0 and dropping to one hand of $10 in negative counts, my bet spread is 1-12 to 1-15 (or $120-$150). When I am playing DD at the HL rooms in abigger city casino, I usually play $25 minimum and keep it to a maximum of 1-10 spread.

I might do differently if I go someplace and play unrated or do short sessions and do not plan on travelling to those casinos more often.

I am a 9. I was on my way to an 8 due to a powerful winning streak. Then suddenly the inverse happened and I am basically starting over. Despite that, I still love this game and absorbing the losses has made me stronger. My emotions are completely tame now (not that they changed the way I played).

8 but i didn't start until October of last year...at a 7 this year as of today...I've had positive variance which always helps in the early stages.
