    cvbj cvdata bugs or not?

Hi, I just started using the software for like 3 days and there have been some things bothering me......don't know if it's just me or possible bugs.

    Thanks.

    1. ------------ cvbj dashboard showing wrong tc ------------------
Sometimes the tc shown in the dash board is shown doubled as what it should be, regardless of use the existing options (e.g. setting deck estimation to exact card) or my custom method for tc calculation. For example, tc ~ 3.5 would be shown as 7, tc ~ 2.5 would be 5 etc. The strange thing is, it is only the number shown in the dash board that is erroneously doubled. It still gives me correct betting/playing error warnings (and logs) when I misplay, and it correctly doesn't alert me when I make the right move.

This 'doubled tc shown' only occur SOMETIMES when tc is higher than about 1, and it seems to be triggered by error warnings.

For example, just now the tc was again incorrectly shown as doubled in the dash board during the most part of this shoe. Then for reasons I don't know it turned back to normal (maybe after another error warning) , showing the true tc. Yet, after a couple of rounds it went again like this: I estimated myself tc to be exactly 1.5, and before I raised my bet accordingly I checked the dash board (by moving my cursor to the bottom to let the tray statistics show up). It showed that tc is 1.5; however, it then gave me the warning when I actually placed the raised bet (yellow tag at the left bottom of the screen). I then went to check the dash board, and it showed a tc of 2.9, which I guess means tc ~1.45
From that point on tc is shown as doubled again.

This happens regardless of using existing betting strategy or my custom betting strategy.

Just FYI, I'm using the existing 94' hi-lo playing strategy, full indices, no wonging.

btw, I always get this 'chirp' sound (or like the sound effect of a drop of water dripping into a pond) when I placed a big bet out (if not my max bet).
At first I thought it's a warning about me not playing the side bet (LL), but when tc was 'only' about 4 or 5 I still get this sound every round. I'm pretty sure I was making the correct bet (plus, no other warnings like the audio or error messages come out). I just don't know what it is.

    2. ------------ cvdata statistics inconsistency? ------------------
In the Win/Lose tab (the 2nd tab; summary being the 1st tab) the first table (grouped by tc), the first 4 columns shows the number of hands won, lost, tied, and total.

Some of the rows don't satisfy this relation: win + lose + tie = total.

The total would be off by 1 ~ 5, not by much; still, it's kind of strange.
It is off only at some of the rows (tc). Other rows have the total exactly being the total (ha).
This occurs in everyone of the several simple sims I've run so far, including an automatic sim after index generation. I don't know how to explain this.

I'm pretty sure I'm looking at the correct columns. For example, I'm NOT looking at the 5th column, which is the # of unit won/lost that I know cannot be worked out even given the betting schedule and the first 4 columns, due to the presence of double downs.

    1. Look at Options-TC Calc. Keep in mind that no one calculates exact TCs. On this screen, you specify how you, personally, calculate them, so that the software can use your calculations.
    2. I forget how many digits of significance I keep for those particular stats. Probably six digits. Vastly more than is meaningful.

    1.
I'm not saying there's something I don't like about the default tc calculation. I'm saying that the tc SHOWN in the dashboard is wrong. It has nothing to do with my setting of the divisor or what kind of resolution I choose. As I described above, the tc would be shown as 1.5 then change to 2.9 a few seconds later (while nothing happened during these few seconds; no cards are dealt etc. I did nothing except placing a bet which received a warning).

Similarly, it reads tc = 7 in the dashboard while the program actually KNOWS it is tc = 3.5
(That is, I place the bet and make the play as if tc = 3.5 and the program didn't give me a betting/playing error warning.....so it knows it is just 3.5 but not 7 which would call for a larger bet and different playing decision).

    2.
So instead of the actual number of hands won, only the percentage for the win (and the total) is kept?
Okay it's a bit counter-intuitive and I didn't expect that. (as the numbers are small for extreme tc so you don't even need 6 digits, not to mention floating numbers or double precision....just keep them as unsigned 8-bit integers)

    Thanks.

oh btw, the option "$2.5 chips exist" (in the Environment tab) doesn't work.... I checked it, but no $2.5 chips showed up and if I get a blackjack with $5 bet I still get two $1 chip with a 50c coin. Every time after I checked it and played a few rounds, I would go see the menu only to find it still being "unchecked".

Here a couple of visuals related issues:

    1.
After I check 'no numbers on cards', my hit/double down card(s) will still appear 'normal' with numbers on them (but the numbers will disappear while the cards are being 'scooped' after I get paid off ). All the other players' cards and the dealer's HOLE CARD are correctly white out. However, the dealer's upcard (YES, UPCARD) and hit cards always have numbers on them. Just for the record, running in full screen (actually just window maximized) or not doesn't matter.
Is this a problem or by design?

    2.
If I play a couple of rounds in the mode when the window is not maximized, after I go back to full screen mode, there will be two Cassies. It's not just a residual image....I can click on both of them and interact with them.

btw, I'm reporting problems for the purpose of none other than trying to show support. Some 'problems' may very well have nothing to do with the quality of the software to help users improve their skills. If anyone think it's inappropriate I'll stop doing this.

    1. Go to File-Backup and e-mail the backup to [email protected]
    2. No, the count is kept in floating point. There is no way to keep just the percentage as the sim proceeds without keeping the underlying numbers.

As the Help states, custom chip sizes only exist if the Realistic chips option is turned off.

    1. Probably by design. Haven't looked at that code in a decade.
    2. That's a weird one. Shouldn't even be possible. I'll try to recreate it; but doubt I can.

oops I missed that line....as every casino in my area has $2.5 chips I just assumed it's not in confrontation with the realistic setup. Thx.

I based the realistic-chips on a casino that no longer exists as they aren't likely to sue. I have their chips from 25 cents to $25,000. Unfortunately, they didn't have $2.50 chips. Nice casino once. Sad in its later days.
