    Reserved Table

How does the reserved table work? Do you have to play black chip min? Do you need to call ahead of time? Are you restricted for time? Does it invite heat? What is the merit to do that?

Depends on the casino. Some casinos require you to have a certain amount of money on deposit or a credit line of at least a certain amount. Others you merely have to be a known player who bets big enough for the boss to justify giving you your own game. I used to get reserved games but they were usually $200 min at high roller casinos or $100 min at lower roller casinos. It does get your more scrutiny and sometimes your own dedicated pit boss and they often have 1 or 2 tables that they use for reserved games that have really good camera coverage. The benefit is you get to play by yourself and get a very fast game. The negative is that you can't table hop easily so if you wind up with a dealer who cuts off 2.5 decks you're stuck with making an excuse to end the session early after the casino has gone to the trouble to set up a game for you. If your line is big enough you can request your own rules. In AC they will often give special players late surrender and resplit aces in addition to the normal high limit rules and even let you request a shuffle if you don't like how that shoe is going...of course you bring a lot of scrutiny on yourself.

An alternative is to just request a $100 min game and request to make it a no-smoking table (which keeps away most other players). If you don't have a big bankroll or the game is "iffy" you're better off just staying off the grid and bop from table to table until you get a good game and count.

I'm gonna call and ask for one to have a sign saying -

"Crappy 6 deck game Reserved for : Nikky-Flash "Red chipper extraordinaire" / no credit / blow smoke in his face / "
they do it anyway / except for the sign / and it's not really reserved , so they don't really ... ( not complaining , just a joke )

“It seemed to me ... that any civilization that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a package of toothpicks, was no longer a civilization in which I could live and stay sane.

Every region is going to be different. Where I live, in the midwest, if you are playing below 25/hand, they'll just reserve you a "call ahead" spot on a table currently in play. If you play stakes above 25/hand they will reserve you a table in the high limit area if it is between certain hours. If it is after or before those hours, they will open you a table on the floor and put up the NMSE sign.

Will it add heat? Yes and No. Where I live, its actually more common for guys to request private tables just because there's a world of idiots trying to play 21+3 tables for the 3 card poker alone (like 95% of the tables here are 21+3), so some of the more big time blackjack guys will request ahead of time, to have the pit open one of the other tables up (usually a royal match table) or request a reserved table in VIP. That being said, by nature, there's more heat on games with higher limits than lower limits. Here in my home state, most of the floor guys don't care about a red chipping counter because in their eyes, you'll never make money off of them. You start playing green/black though, and they will sweat you if you're spreading large and winning.

Other than that, its nothing more than a privacy thing.
