    Heat help

I got a table raise in the middle of my game. They finished the shoe but raised it after. It was like 6ish so i am thinking that maybe it was due to late night pickup? I might of messed up by leaving after the raise, maybe they were testing me or something. Also they were switching between two dealers then they brought out this crazy bruce lee dealer when the shoe got rich which seemed kind of weird. I mean this guy was lightning quick. A bunch of randoms keep approaching me and seem to be selling me on the other games, which just seems very weird, pretty sure these people work for the casion. Does this sound abnormal, I hope I am just paranoid. If anybody can advise on some ways to keep heat lower this is the only casino in a long drive and don't want to fck up this part time go. I was thinking of sitting on the shuffle machine for a few minutes maybe even 30mins or something first thing tommorrow, maybe spin the wheel or something, fk i dont know...thanks. I was hoping to get a couple hours a day for at least for the month.

I am glad you got the raise from a faster dealer. Everyone can use more EV. They raise table limits at a certain time determined by the table games manager. He is the one with the authority to do so. It is most likely normal and not a countermeasure. I have had a ridiculous number of dealer changes in one shoe that had nothing to do with the players. Shift change combined with bathroom breaks at nearby tables can have dealers shuffling all over the place. I am not sure who randoms are supposed to be. Other players? There are other players in the casino? I never pay them any attention.

Raised table limits are due to volume of play throughout the casino or expected high volume business (ie. weekends, special events, holidays, etc.). Casinos are running a business and if they have the business to raise the limits they will. The major shift change for all dealers is 6pm and sometimes the supervisor in charge of assigning dealers to their rotations or tables makes mistakes. That would explain multiple dealers within a short period of time. IMO you did not experience any type of heat yet.

Table limits may also be raised if they want to close a pit.

Some casino grandfather you when you are playing at the table a long time. Some casinos raise their table limit when a player wins a lot of money to get them off the table. If a casino refuse to grandfather than find another casino with the same opportunity.I won't play unless there are favorable table condition.Raising the table limit does increase your ROR if your bankroll is very limited. Usually if a casino raise their table limit I will just leave because I am not willing to gamble. I have no interest in blindly throwing away my money.

So what you're saying is that they said the table minimum was going to be raised at the end of the shoe. This is perfectly normal and almost always depends on traffic.

If people, randoms as you call them, keep approaching you you might want to take a look at what you may be doing to encourage them. I very seldom have this happen to me. On the rare occasion that it does it is dealt with swiftly. You may also want to figure out how you can use these people to your advantage.

This is not heat. Don't throw away money on cover play at this point.

Yeah this isn't heat. If they lowered the max bet, that would be heat. What you do here is leave on the first negative shoe if you don't like the higher minimum bet, or just leave right away if the shoe is negative.

I agree, not heat. Quick story when I recently mistook something for heat. Just a couple of minutes after sitting down the floorperson whispered something to the dealer and dealer throws out plastic markers on the empty spots at the table, there were only 2 other players. I just knew this was to prevent me from spreading to 2 hands because I had played there a few days earlier and had spread to 2 spots on a positive shoe. I left before the end of the shoe. More experienced players would probably know this was because they were closing down the table

That's not heat. That's increasing the table minimums for a shift change.

Game Managers have something similar to this "on the books" long before people like us grace them with our presence. Generally speaking, 4-7 depending on the place, is when table limits will go up for the evening, and they intentionally pick (especially on BJ) their fastest dealers to handle the increase in traffic, which in turn is an increase in income.

Trust me, this wasn't heat, and the last thing they are going to do to a card counter is raise the table minimum slightly. Generally they lower the table max and start cutting to 50% pen and/or reshuffling every other hand if they think you are counting. And that's from what I've seen in a state where you cannot ban a player or back him off for card counting. I expect other states will just politely ask you to leave the pit and enjoy the offerings of the slot machines.

I echo everyone else here....not heat. All of us go through bouts of paranoia periodically. I've gone through periods where I thought that everything that everyone was doing and saying in a pit was somehow related to me????....,I will say this though....being a little overly paranoid is way better than being overly confident that no one notices what you are doing.

I played a place that would do this but allow you to play until you decided to get up from the table. I learned to hold it for hours. It wasn't long before I was the only one playing at the table and had lammers on every other spot. Once I played so long they took the lammers down because it was time to reopen the table that never closed. You may have missed a great opportunity. Next time ask why they blocked the spot. They will almost always tell you.
