Where's the best place to get casino cards?

Snyder says that you should use real casino cards and I think he recommends getting a large number to practice deck estimation. I'm in LV now and can get them at gift shops but their $2 per deck. Any suggestions on where to get a lot of them cheaply? Thanks

This is what I bought awhile back. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AMO8A0
On second thought just buy Blackjack Verite Drills for your android. It has deck estimation.

Most places sell used casino cards, usually punched to otherwise disabled, but when I inquired at the Wynn last week to fill a request for a friend of mine, they told me that Wynn destroys all their used decks. I could only buy a brand new deck with the Wynn logo on the backs, two choices of design. I did not check to see if they were the same as the decks in play, but reflecting on this, I doubt it, as that would provide an opportunity for introducing extra cards into games. Can you imagine the consequences of adding a few more aces to a shoe? Don't ask me how, but a gifted card handler might accomplish such a feat. A brand new deck of Wynn cards costs $6.49.

Wouldn't the real thing be better? Are those cards the same as what the casino uses for practical purposes?

I purchase used cards at most local casinos for .50 cents a deck and typically buy a case (dozen). One casino gives them away free, four decks max per visit

If you play in the pits at all, most table games floor or management should be willing to give away free used decks... Just ask... Worst case scenario they direct you to where you can purchase them.

Best place I've found for bulk cards.

"One of these days in your travels, you are going to come across a guy with a nice brand new deck of cards, and this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the Jack of Spades jump out of the deck and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not take this bet, for if you do, as sure as you are standing there, you are going to end up with an ear full of cider."

I get mine from the casino. Casino security often has the duty of escorting old cards to their final destination. Often they give them away at the door but a ridiculous number of decks of used cards come off the casino floor every day. I just ask a casino manager for old cards. They will usually give me ten decks if they are allowed to give them away.

Good to know. Do you often get chummy with the casino manager?

All playing cards are not created equal! I like becoming accustomed to the exact cards I'm to be playing with. Could you theoretically have to focus more at the table if the cards are not something you're used to seeing? When casino hopping you'll notice a little acclimation is sometimes required if the card styles are radically different from one place to the next. Whether it's free or .50 or even 2 bucks a pack, it's well worth it to obtain cards from where you are playing or intend on playing. I've gotten free cards from a few casinos but by and large I get some packs from where I'm playing and don't give a flying pile of monkey poop how much they cost, considering their importance and contribution to being perhaps just a little sharper with sufficient familiarization of the exact cards you're playing with... Think about the total per hour you are cycling over the table even at relatively low stakes and $2 toward ensuring being on the top of your game is well worth it considering the much higher number at risk. Free is always nice but one way or the other you should obtain cards from where you are playing to work with.

I wouldn't say chummy but I certainly don't avoid them. That is a big tell. They expect APs to avoid contact rather than bring a suit in for any reason. I think having a list in mind of what they expect an AP to do and do the exact opposite most of the time is great cover. You would be amazed how effective this strategy can be.

I've never found a suit to be a problem. I chat it up with them frequently, but I don't think the cover's worth much. If they catch you upstairs, it doesn't matter what the suit thinks. The best we can accomplish by staying on friendly terms with the suits (and by this, I'm referring to suits in the pit) is that they may refrain from having us checked out, at least, until we start winning an appreciable amount of money. That of course does not mean the eye is not checking you out. I give the eye more credit for spotting card counters than a dozen pit critters.
