IMO there is always exceptions and certain situations where tipping is acceptable. But for the most part you should not.

I have had a situation where I was able to utilize depth-charging just from tipping. I may be able to divulge further but must be careful as this game is still readily available to me.

Not tipping just seems too conspicuous if you play routinely somewhere. Of course, if I am not a regular, I generally do not tip. But the places I play routinely, I do tip. I follow the following concepts: I keep the tips small: 2-3% of win. I tip only one of two ways, either after a good shoe or session or by putting a small denomination chip on top of a large stack ($1 on top of $100 for example). In the latter case, dealer gets the $1 payoff on a win and the dollar on top rides. I only do this when the bet size is large enough to keep the tip at 2% or so. If I tip after a good shoe or session, I work hard to keep the tip small versus my win. So by default, I generally never tip if the overall session was a loss. However, I will also tip (small) if a dealer complies with a request, for instance, a subtle request to improve pen gets rewarded, though inconspicuously. I have also used this when a dealer helps a floor call go my way including requests to shuffle up a bad shoe. Of course, all this needs to be done inconspicuously, but if you are a regular there, I feel the value is worth it. Interestingly, this gets little discussion if you are talking about poker. In poker, there is an unspoken rule that you tip a dealer when you win a pot. Generally, this can be forgone if there was no flop, but the tips often come regardless. The cost has to be just as steep there as in BJ (or worse as win rates are generally smaller compared to BR), but no one seems to question whether you should. Personally, I tip $1 if the pot is between $20 and $100 and $2 for pots over $100. Still trying to keep the tips small while getting some value from the dealer.

I am not sure there is value to this poll to anyone other than the casino staff trying to peg APs.

You can't draw any useful conclusions from such a small set.
