Thanks RobinHood, Are all dealers told to notify the pit of suspected counters or just variance in wagers? Most players vary their bets so I can see dealers crying "wolf" way too much. I know some dealers certainly alert someone and I expect it's on their break unless it's just calling "cheques play".
A good "Eye" should be able to count down a shoe while evaluating the play of a targeted player AND determine if he is a real threat. Are there that many good "Eyes" and how available are they when called upon? I'll stop asking Qs now.

Sorry for the slow reply... Just got back from a heavy session in Vegas.

Most dealers are taught to notify pit personnel of large variances in bets but out of 100 dealers, maybe 1 will actually follow through with that outside of calling "cheques play".

"Good eyes" are very rare in most of your average casinos... I'm sure all your major strip joints in LV will always have a few "good eyes" on each shift. I'll give you an example of a place I worked at... We had roughly 60 tables spread on swing shift. On Fridays and Saturdays there were approximately 15 floor supervisors. 1 assistant shift manager and 1 shift manager. Out of all 17 management personnel I was the only person that could accurately count down a suspected AP. Let's take that even further... Out of all three shifts I was the only person that could perform the latter. Even further... Our director of table games couldn't do it either. You had to go all the way to the top to even get an inkling of knowledge. The VP of Gaming Operations was the only other person that could do it. And even him with all that knowledge didn't have the time to sit and watch and make an evaluation. I can remember one specific incident where a player was winning a ridiculous amount of money and he didn't trust his own judgement and instead consulted Bill Zender on the issue.
