    Rough couple of days

Hello All. I've been playing pretty good this year, showing a profit (last year I lost more money then I won). However the last two trips wiped out my profit. The counts were there, I pushed my bets out, but the cards just didn't show themselves. All I could do was shake my head. I'm sure everyone here has seen this from time to time. I guess my question is this, if the count is there but the dealer (any and all dealers) continuously make hands out of crap, how long do you keep playing before you decide I should leave and just come back another day. Do you have a number in mind of how much you are willing to lose for a session as a stop point?

I do have kind of a limit in my mind unless the count stays really high.
then I risk a little more than I intended.
    it's because I can't think straight after a big loss, I need a break.
i just save to replenish BR then tiptoe back in.
this is why I'll never be a big player.
i think it depends on the person.
    been there. Cheer up.

You should be ahead after a significant number of hours played. Keep playing if you think you're doing it right.

I've got no stop point when losing. But I do stop when i get to 180-200 unit profit. Reason only is I want to go home a happy guy otherwise no stops for this guy.

It doesn't matter how large the amount you set to call it a day, sooner or later you will hit that amount. Just don't leave an advantage situation so worst case you leave at the shuffle if the count says you have an advantage after each hand. The question is what looks too big to the casino. At some point recovering your losses would make it look even more suspicious. It's all one big session so grouping the swings to show losses from time to time is actually good for longevity. Unless something really special has you glued to your seat allowing your BR cry uncle by leaving accomplishes showing some losses. Decide how much you are comfortable losing and draw the line because sooner or later you will hit it no matter what the amount. Some days you get the table heads up or close to it and get nice big counts that start early in the shoe and last the whole shoe. You are betting big and the dealer keeps showing the worst cards so you are splitting and doubling like crazy and the dealer keeps hitting out for 21. You will burn through big bets really fast. It is up to you were you draw the line.

My only stop loss is when I feel like I can't play at the level I expect from myself. Usually it's from just being generally tired, but in the past I've felt the losses and stepped away. The key is to not step away while the count is still high and you have an advantage. As Tthree said life is all just one session so a stop loss when you are losing doesn't change anything. But the corollary to that is stopping for a short while to collect yourself doesn't change anything either.

It isn't leaving at an amount. You don't leave in an advantage so the real question is how much money do you need to survive a nightmare shoe like described in my last post. Don't start a shoe unless you have that much on you and are willing to lose it. Leave mid-shoe whenever you want to at a disadvantage. That leaves a window that should be in your comfort zone and it could be a wide range of losses that fit the comfort zone.

I will not risk more than 5% of my bankroll in any one session - Learned this from playing poker and dealing with variance in that game...i'll usually take 20 units to a session - if its gone its gone...if i double it, then i press it...

I know what you mean when a dealer is making hands out of nothing - just shrug it off - as long as you are having more winning sessions than losing ones and you know you have an advantage, then you will be ok...
