    Vegas Vacation

Clark Griswold here Planning a trip to Vegas for June primarily as an anniversary trip for me and my wife. But also will be there for the half marathon at Red Rock Canyon.

We are having difficulty choosing a resort to stay at. Leaning toward Red Rock Casino to be close to the race for the 7am start, however, the glitz of the Strip is alluring. We don't mind driving down to the strip if we stay at Red Rock as long as traffic and parking on the strip are manageable.

And if we were to choose the Strip, which resort? Luxor seems cool. My wife kind of likes New York-New York and Excaliber.

Having never visited Vegas we don't really know what we want, if you know what I mean.

    Any suggestions?

Blackjack topic: will be getting a current copy of CBJN before we go but is there playable BJ at Red Rock?

Red Rock is nice modern casino. If the race is on a week day, stay there the night before to avoid traffic. Suncoast is also near Red Rock.

If you want to go out in the evening to a show or club then staying on the south strip is a good choice. I've found nice rooms at reasonable prices south strip at Monte Carlo. Luxor is the same quality room, buffet is poor, room prices usually higher. Excaliber rooms ok for a guy not a good choice for an anniversary, restaurants terrible.

Check the resort fees before finalizing your reservation. It can add $9-30/night and it's not an optional fee.

Venetian has AMAZING rooms, my second favorite is mandalay bay, NYNY has super tiny rooms, planet hollywoods suites were soso, never stayed ina regular room there though
older places like bally, riviera, the quad, and harrahs dont have the best rooms around.

Im a fan of Tuscany, its off the strip, 35/night, quiet nice new rooms with torracco shampoos, and has a nice quiet pool to relax in, their casinon is a joke though

I stayed and played at red rock casino hotel
on comp and I will return there on a comp.
the dd bj is absolutely excellent with deep
    penetration and very good rules.
I played there but was backed off.
they do apparently watch the game close so
the excellent game can't be played for over an
    hour or less I think.

Depends on your budget, what you are looking for.
are you looking for good games or nice romantic place?
i think Aria corner suite would be nice for a romantic evening.
Wynn is also beautiful with wonderful restaurants.
    These are kind of pricey.
NYNY has excellent service, nothing fancy. Good games.
    pool looks so so. affordable.
Luxor, lots of noisy young party people on weekends.

My last trip, I stayed at Monte Carlo on a comp. What I liked most about the place is you don't have to walk 3 miles, through the casino, past all the stores and the gawking tourists, etc. to get from your room to your car. Down the elevator, through the lobby and down a short hallway and you're in the parking garage.

Another thing I liked about it was the games are so mediocre, I had no problem not playing there

Thanks for everyones input. It looks like the choice will be Red Rock. We've heard good things from friends, online reviews are overall good, and most of all no one here had anything negative to say. We'll be in Vegas for 3 nights, arriving Friday before the half marathon on Saturday. We'll have a rental car and probably take in a show on the strip on Saturday night and hopefully I'll get in several hours of blackjack during the stay. I wouldn't mind trying to get in some hiking up in the canyon after the race. I think we'll enjoy the more peaceful resort on the edge of town.

I went to your site and was unable to pm to you
the details of the wonderful dd game at red rock
    casino in las vegas.
this dd game is actually better than my favorite
casino's dd game which I applaud so much.
the problem though is that the red rock game
has much more heat from the eye in the sky.
the pit paid very little if any attention to me
when I played there and got backed off.
the eye in the sky was watching however.

Casinos don't offer games this good without protecting them aggressively. If the suits are ignoring you it is a guarantee that the EITS is watching carefully. You should have played with that in mind. Getting backed off may be inevitable but you should last much longer than you did.
