    Blackjack Combinatorial Software

Does anyone use this software available on Blackjackinfo dot Com? According to the instructions, it requires Net Framework V 1.1. I am running windows 8 and when I tried installing V1.1, I get a message that there are known compatibility issues with Windows 8 so I didn't install it.

Is anyone running this on Windows 8 and if so, what is the set up that is required?

    Thanks

I was able to run in on Win8.0 but the Win 8.1 update broke it.

In Win 8.1 I set up an instance of Win7 in Hyper-V and run the software through that. Same thing with Video Poker for Winners.

It's an incredible pain for developers to keep up with Microsoft. I think they have a room deep in the bowels of Redmond where a group of people sit around a table and say "How can we screw with developers today?" They create software with a new interface. Then, release it and tell everyone else to shift to the new interface to be rated Windows compliant. Then, after they do, they call it obsolete because they've been secretly creating the next new interface, and the one after that. So, they are always a step ahead. They come out with neat software developers can use. And as soon as you get the applications out, they withdraw support and cause it to fail in the next Windows version.

Don't get me wrong. Apple is even worse.

Historically Microsoft has been very good about maintaining backwards compatibility; certainly much better than Apple.

With 8.1, a seemingly minor update to 8.0 they made some changes that break stuff.

This issue breaks Video Poker for Winners, for example:

I followed the instructions to activate Hyper V here: http://www.howtogeek.com/76532/how-t...-in-windows-8/

When I pull up the "Turn Windows features on or off" window, Hyper V is not located anywhere in it and my window looks nothing like the example given in the illustration.

Do you have any idea where Hyper V may be hiding?

    Thanks

I think that Hyper V is only available on 64 bit versions of Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise. Are you running one of those editions?
If not, you can try a 3rd party virtualization software like

    or

    Hi Marvin

No, I am not running Windows Pro or Enterprise, just Windows 8 64 bit. I installed VMware_Player but after doing so, I realized I have no idea how to use a virtual computer.

I think it is time to call in the nephews!

I updated my Apple a few years ago and it made lots of stuff not work anymore. Guess what I did. I reinstalled everything to the way it was and never updated again. I guess if more people thought like that this practice would go the way of the dinosaur. My computer is a dinosaur because of it but I can still run everything I am used to. I can't buy some of the newer stuff but that's just money saved.

    Thank you very much iCountNTrack

I just had a few short minutes to look at them, I'll do more later. One quick question.

What is p-1 P0 and p1.5 on your analyzer?

    Thanks again
