    Getting back into counting

    Hello All,

I learned to count using KO-preferred on a 6deck game with great penetration about 7 years ago. I decided to call it quits back then because I was a red chipper and my EV was less than I could make at a job, and the expenses of driving to the casino were eating my profits.

I have since moved to a new location and found a single deck game that still pays 3:2. The penetration is 60% and the rules are H17, DOA, with no double after split. The table minimums are as low as $5, but this causes too many players at the table. I'm interested in an aggressive wonging strategy on the $10 or $25 min tables. In some reading I have been doing, I realize KO is not that great of a system for single deck. I'm looking for a better system, probably Zen with all the indices.

I'm looking for more information on playing only at a TC of +1 or greater, using an Every Man For Himself team strategy, and what kind of software/practice will benefit the most. I am planning on studying, practicing, and building a bigger BR over the next 2-3 months. In the past I've been in a play-all or play most situation where I would wong out at -2 and sometimes back count and wait for +1 or better, I'd like to understand the feasibility of back counting for +1 or higher in single deck areas that deal PO6 (I think that's what it is, ie: 2 players 4 rounds before shuffle) and a reasonable strategy to do so. I have no idea how to calculate how often this will happen and how many times per hour I will actually be able to put money on the table. I'd like to figure out a comparison of play-all vs wonging at + counts, and if I should wait for +2 instead of +1 before joining the table.

I realize I probably just asked 20 questions on my first forum post, but I look forward to reading your feedback.

Double deck games allowing mid-shoe entry are very rare, and I have yet to see a locale that offers single deck mid-shoe entry - do you mean to say you found a 3/2 pay (not 6/5) single deck game where they allow mid-shoe entry ???

Wonging a 1D game will attract a lot of attention, all bad, from both the players and the pit. 1D games are play all only if you want to survive. My advice would be to save to get a bankroll sufficient to play these games with a play all approach.

Try CVCX online from the links at the top of this page. You should be able to get some of your answers by playing with the options. The full CVCX will give you more thorough answers and is worth the money if your going to be putting serious money on the felt.

Yes. With a $1000 limit as well. This is the reason I'm getting back into counting.

yeah I mean there are shops like Ox describes but those games ought to be watched like a hawk, with any sort of spread, especially if you even sniff anything close to the 1k

^ I think I know where he's talking about, and you can get away with a lot of stuff there surprisingly easily.
