    Fakes in Vegas gaming

How effective are fake ids in Vegas, out of curiosity? I know this city is the most strict, but I only really hear stories about people using them at CLUBS, not at CASINOS. Does anybody have experience with this or know any information about it? Is there a difference between downtown and strip casinos?

    Thanks.

Depends on what kind of "fake" we're talking here. Don't go doin' nothin' illegal now. In a theoretical situation, I'd venture most bosses, let alone dealers, can't spot a (good) fake.

Are you just trying to pull off the "of age" aspect?

    jbuck,

    Griffen went belly-up years ago.

You need to be aware that their place was superseded by O.S.N.

I don't have a fake ID (I'm somewhere between legal and 82), but for some reason several of the clubs I tried to get into in Vegas thought it was a fake. I had 0 problems at all at the tables or cage though. They weren't even busy so it wasn't like a screening sort of thing.
Long story short- Don't use a fake ID. If they suspect you have a fake they will immediately do bad things because they are liable. Don't do it.

High Stakes professional players have used fake ID's in the past, in this post 9-11 environment many now play unrated and even do regular legal name changes (as described in Ian Andersen's book). If you're not a high stakes player I suggest that the risk/reward in using such items for card counting is not in the correct balance. Laws for such things vary dramatically from state to state and high quality items from a trustworthy provider are hard to find.

As always your mileage may vary. When I first started playing you use some real bull**** ID's and often no ID was needed at all for a players card. Today many players clubs are at the casino cage or run by employees who can spot inferior product and law enforcement is quicker to jump to sinister conclusions. You should not use such things without doing some research and making sure that it is worth it. That said, it has always puzzled me why using a fake ID at a nightclub might result in problems, but using one at a casino causes all hell to break loose.

No one is going to deal in cash transactions in a night club in an amount that would necessitate a CTR report (He would be one drunk patron if he did). Fake ID's in night clubs are used mainly by underage patrons trying to party and have a good time and not by terrorists, money launderers and people trying to evade taxes.

On the other hand, use of a fake ID in a casino would cause CTR's and suspicious activity reports to be issued under a false name and SS#. The IRS doesn't really like that.

That's not true. First, APs using aliases generally avoid generating CTRs. Second, if a CTR or W2-G is filed, they will have to ask you for your SSN. It isn't on your DL, real or fake. RWM recently stated on GWAE that in the past he has used a legal alias and his real SSN for tax forms and the IRS was fine with that. Third, I'd guess that the majority of fakes used in a casino are probably also by underage patrons wishing to gamble and drink, and not "terrorists, money launderers, and people trying to evade taxes," or professional advantage players, which you left off of your list.

Sad country and world we live in. What's the big deal if we are of age or not. They are getting more money if anything. I guess if the under age person gets into trouble, it could be bad for the casino, but then that just gets me into another whole argument, underage laws in general is a joke. Look at other countries for example when it comes to drinking for example, its 18 or even younger and they have less drinking and driving accidents than in USA. And il tell you right now it's not a coincidence. The more laws that are in place, the worse it is, because its all human psychology, humans will be tempted to break the law and in a way are motivated to challenge authority. Believe it or not you let people be free and less restricted and things become calmer and more in control.

All this age bull**** needs to stop and focus on more important things; getting out of debt would be a start. End the federal reserve would be 2nd.

Stop, issues like these are much more complicated than you think.
