Old news but interesting, seems like he had bankroll management issues. I don't know why he would knock card counting and say it does not work when he may have worked up a nice bankroll, and he's right back at the $25 tables starting over lmao. This kid goes on to say that when the count is high it's in the dealers favor as well... but what differentiates the dealer from the player is that we can split, double down, and get paid 3:2 on BJ. Plus we can get up and leave whenever we want.

I could have sworn someone linked to that video on this website a few weeks ago.
At any rate, it's a classic example of why casinos actually benefit from the existence of card counting. The kid probably watched a movie or saw something on the internet about card counting, learned just enough of Hi Lo, but unfortunately was completely unaware of the necessity of bankroll management and went busto, which is probably what happens to the vast majority of would-be card counters. Movies and such portray card counting as some sort of fortune telling where the counter knows exactly what cards are coming next, so who would need to worry about negative variance anyway ?
The guy is actually a bit creative here though in a turning lemons to lemonade sense--he goes bust trying to count cards and at the height of blackjack in the media, writes about the "futility" of trying to count and tries to sell his own ridiculous Martingale system, and actually makes bank doing so. Reminds me of the South Park "collect underpants" meme--apparently a new get rich quick scheme should be:
Step 1: Learn card counting and completely blow your bankroll through overbetting.
Step 2: Write book of nonsense about going broke.
Step 3: ?????
Step 4: Profit!
"...with the economy going South and the gas prices going up...". LOL WHAT?
When the newscaster asks about how much he'd win, he says he was betting $25/hand and he'd win $1,000....and later says he'd win $20,000 in a day. Instant red-flag, as an actual counter would say something like, "I was playing a rate to win $X/hour" or something to that effect.
What is quite surprising is all the YouTube comments and how informed/educated the responders are. [One said you get paid 2:1 on BJ and another 2:3, but they had the right idea.]
