What is an ace worth as your starting card in Spanish?

Yes, sorry I should have clarified. What % advantage does an ace as your first card yield?

Doing a little reading in some books and they say that "Spanish 21" is something to avoid. Not sure what the consensus here is but I played about a half a dozen hands at a store with a volcano in front of it once and won all my hands. I had no idea what I was playing at the time though! LOL!

You might want to consult the e.o.r. tables for spanish 21 and blackjack. That should provide a clear indication of what the ace is worth as your first card in spanish.

That's not at all the same thing. I don't know the answer to the question, but EOR has nothing to do with it.

I read in Kat's book it's "more than in blackjack", but I'm looking for hard numbers

Again, EOR has nothing to do with this answer. EOR is the change in edge when you play against a deck with one card removed. It has nothing at all to do with a known starting card.

It's probably similar to BJ. Even though there are less BJs, the non-BJ ace is a more powerful card in Sp21 than BJ because of the ability to draw multiple cards.

The amount like BJ depends on the deck composition.

It is worth the same as regular BJ for BJs.

It is worth more than BJ in its use in:
Multicard hand bonuses for getting 21 in 5 (3:2 payoff), 6 (2:1 payoff) or 7+ cards (3:1 payoff).
You can hit and double on split aces.

I would think it would be far more valuable in Spanish 21 than in regular BJ.

My best "guesstimate" would be 58% to 60%.
