Thread: Go away - speed dealer...

speed dealing is fine with me as long as the dealer deals the cards to a
place in front of me. sometimes, I think they are trying to confuse me when
they deal fast to my extreme left and extreme right.
when this happens I put my open right hand out over the table
where I want the cards to land from the dealer's pitch in pitch games.
then usually the dealer slows somewhat and deals the cards in front
of me where I can easily pick them up.

Most speed dealers I've seen are remarkably precise in card placement or toss. If you find a speed dealer that isn't, this may be an opportunity to benefit from dealer errors, or hole-carding/next-carding.

Possibly a joke. But, caffeine is rarely the answer IMHO. If you get to the point that you need an upper to continue, go to sleep instead, wake up refreshed and start again. Perhaps a 2:1 BJ promotion or an extremely sloppy dealer are exceptions. There are always exceptions.

For card counters the obvious benefit from a fast dealer is more hands per hour which equates to more money. But for a player concerned with heat and longevity, such as myself, there is a second major benefit of a fast dealer and that is exposure time reduction. In a shoe game, I show my spread only once. I exit at the first shuffle following placement of my first max bet. Most max bet opportunities occur in the second half of the shoe, so from the time I place my first max bet until exit is anywhere from a few minutes if only a couple rounds are left to as much as 10 minutes. 10 minutes is the high end exposure time. A fast dealer cuts that in half, even more if playing heads up.

Nothing I hate more than playing with a slow dealer when I have reached max bet time. I throw my big bet out there and it sits there for 8, 10, 12 seconds during my most vulnerable time. Those seconds seem like an eternity.

Really great line. Like a faux pas, you just want it to end and move on, erasing the evidence.

A few years ago, I played a DD pitch game with a fast dealer in WA state. After I spread my bet a few times, the phone rang in the pit. PB then told the dealer to deal face up. Apparently the dealer was dealing too fast for the EITS to count along :-) I left after one more max bet cycle.

I have to agree as well hurry before the suit turns around. I love speed sometimes I throw away a little EV and say this 5 toke is all yours if you can show me your fastest speed. I like the one hour power sessions in and out before they notice I'm even there.
