If it's a no hole card game, then you need to know how they handle blackjacks to determine if it's early surrender. If you get back half of your bet before they even check, it's early surrender. If the bet is set aside until blackjack is checked and you lose to a dealer blackjack, that's late surrender.
Knowing whether or not its late surrender or early surrender is huge!!! 8D, S17, DAS and LS with 60% penetration level is a horrible game!!! You would have to employ 1 to 16 unit spread with the Hi Opt II, Full Indices, Ace Side Count just to squeak out a winning percentage in the "play all" approach of 0.68%. If it is in fact Early Surrender then the winning percentage of this game can in fact yield the results of what the Late Surrender game would yield with a mid 80% deck penetration level.

And, don't ask the casino if it's early or late surrender... they either won't know the difference, or if they do then they'll tag you as someone to watch.
Play a few hands at table min and try to surrender against a dealer 10 and Ace, see if it's allowed and what happens if the dealer has blackjack.
With full early surrender you'll be able to surrender half your bet against a dealer Ace, even if the dealer ends up having blackjack.
If the game doesn't have a hole card, also find out what happens if you split or double and the dealer gets blackjack, do you lose everything, just your original bet, or original bet plus any busted hands? If you lose everything then the house edge gets a little bigger because you can't be as aggressive with your double downs against the 10 and Ace and splits against the Ace.
i remember the dealer checks blackjack first if he has 10 or ace up card, and if he doesn't have blackjack then they offer to surrender.
Edit: not when he has 10, i remember someone had 11 and doubled, then the dealer had bj and they only took the first bet. im sorry i've only been there for an hour so i don't actually recall every detail.
