Like I say though, I am small time compared to you guys so I don't know how it would work with high stakes but for my current level, it works just fine.
Bodarc, I agree. I go to a place often enough that they know me. Since they know me anyway, might as well be pleasant, and get the the benefits of that in case there is a questionable situation - talking to the waitress, cards on table, dealer thinks I'm good and passes me and flips over a face (she had a nine showing). I say excuse me, I was going to take a hit (I have 8-6 against a 9 up) pit boss says give him a hit, I get a 5, and nothing changes with everyone else except I save $125. I don't think that they would have been that flexible if I had been known to be a jerk...
Hi, redbuck
Is 'your place' a smallish, local Indian Casino? I'm curious because I'm in that situation and I try very hard to keep good relations since it's the only place I can go in a reasonable time and it has great conditions (except that it's so small you simply cannot lay low). This is a constant challenge in trying to get a decent spread without being backed off and I'm wondering if you might be in the same situation and how you approach it.
Thanks moo321 .....that's what I'll do from now on.
SIMI no, my place isn't small and there are other places to go. Just happens that I think I must have had a small touch of something because I couldn't get warm to save my life and didn't feel up to par. It was staying where my seminar was and didn't want to get out in the cold to go to another casino. I'm not really qualified to tell you the best way to approach it in your situation. You probably need to let some of the more experienced guys on here answer your question. I'm sure they can tell you the best approach to take.
Take care
SiMi, my place is not small (and definitely not an indian Casino), and there are plenty of other local places to play. I am never bothered because they know how I play, and we peacefully coexist. I don't win or lose too much, and although I am up a decent amount, they are ok because I cause no trouble, don't ask for much, tip well, and offer a sense of humor that keeps things running smoothly. Hell, they should put me on the payroll - actually, I guess they have.
...Not winning or losing too much suggests a small spread.... yet you tip well? That you tip at all makes me raise an eyebrow. I play small stakes and have absolutely NO room for tipping, on top of that I have to play with no cover at all.
If you're a red chipper and tipping... I'd guess that you're most likely playing -EV mate. Just a warning.

How much do you drink? I always order a drink but sip at it and then when I wong out or 'take a bathroom break' I take it with me and dump about half down the drain. But I'll often act drunk. Screaming for monkeys, talking about the flow of the cards, you know, the usual ploppy nonsense. Whenever the count warrants it and I go from one spot of one unit to two spots of 1x units I'll yell something about having a feeling and needing to change the flow of the cards. The plops eat that **** up. Sometimes, just for my own amusement when I hit a soft 18 against a 10 or a 12 against a 2 I'll saying something like 'gonna go against the book and try something crazy now just to change up the magical flow of the cards' just to see if anyone says anything. Very rarely does anyone catch the my 'error'.
