Does the Casino cheat at Blackjack?

I was playing at a casino lately and they had an odd procedure after pulling the decks out of the shoe which I realized was to thwart edge sorting. It seemed really silly because the players couldn't touch the cards. Perhaps they were worried about collusion or just having their dealers do it on all tables, not just the games susceptible to edge sorting.

The seizing of funds, (as in my case, noted below), strongly implies "cheating."

A matter of opinion I think. What I infer from it is "irregularities", a fairly significant difference in position - one is
a criminal offence, the other no blame or allegations are being made against anyone at that point.

No difference really (apart from the time differential), between that and when my wife and friends won several
$000s on a roulette table in LV, having progressed their bets on the same number three times and it coming up.
They were treated to a bottle of bubbly and lots of congratulations in the time it took "the suits" to examine
the camera footage. They were finally paid out around 10 minutes later.

yes, stay away from pitch games in hole-in-the-wall casinos. it's rare, but when it happens, you will get destroyed. a lot of people think i'm too paranoid, but it's better to be careful than be broke.

Thanks for the advice. What did you see that made you think like this? Did you catch the mechanic/dealer putting a move on you?
