    getting a room comped

gonna do some traveling soon and i'm considering playing for comps at a casino i stay at to try and get free lodging / food during an extended stay.
does anyone have much experience with this? lets say casino charges ~60 per night. how long would u have to play betting around $50 - $200 per hand to continuously get your room comped?

specifically i'll be staying at one of the casinos in tunica mississippi. any advice much appreciated

I spent a couple of days in Vegas, not Tunica. I didn’t play bj where I stayed but played minimal VP instead and received two consecutive nights stay at a hotel chain. Plus I earned enough comps for two people to eat two days.

For room comps, play video poker. You'll earn far more than you would at BJ at your betting levels.

If there is a Harrah's in the area, and their rules are decent, then play there. In Reno anyway, they are comping hotel rooms like crazy.

Could someone provide some more color on the VP play (time and amount) necessary to receive free rooms and some meal comps? Thanks.

From my experience, if you spend any time at the tables at all....The Fitz in Tunica always did me real good on rooms and buffets and I am far from a high roller. Their buffet is tremendous, one of the best I ever had......I think the reason they are more free with their comps is because they are not used to real big action. On that note, if you go in betting black minimum then you could encounter problems....We played green there and done real well. The bigger places like Harrahs...aka the old Grand just get too much big action to take care of me properly....YMMV!

For RFB I HAVE TO PLAY 8 HOURS A DAY AT $90 AVERAGE BET. You can get a room comp for much less. During the week I don't even have to play for my room. It is a free room that is not comped. Friday and Saturday I have to arrange for a comped room.

You should not play blackjack for room comps. On your first trip stay someplace cheap and pay for your room for the first night or two, Then spread play around Tunica and you'll get more comps for free rooms in the mail than you can ever use. Ask for food comps from hosts as you go (that way you're not obligated to play) and after a couple of days of play if you want to hit them up for a free room you'll likely be given one based only on your play. It's a bad idea to play for comps, in order to last any length of time you'll have to play a weak game and you'd be better off just paying for a room. Hotel rooms in Tunica are dirt cheap during the week and at casinos they give free rooms away for just threatening to pull money out of your pocket. Weekends are a bit harder to get comped up front on first visit so just shop around and stay off-site.

Microtel or days inn Tunica are around $50-60/night if you want somewhere to stay that isn't associated with a casino. They aren't fancy, but they are decent. I haven't spent much time there, but Harrahs comped my stay with no play based on previous activity on my TR card. If you have one, log into your account and see what they are offering. That is, if you aren't already getting meaningful value from their mailers. If you are, don't mess up your ADT.

I read somewhere that people who play both BJ & VP (at the same location) may do this. Briefly explain to he PB that "playing table games messes with my video machine points & comps", or something of that nature.

I have done this. Explain to the floor the truth that bj comps are so poor compared to vp that if I use my card but don't play vp today my offers will actually be worse.

For me, Sam's Town (a Boyd's Property) and Fitzgerald's have always been most generous. I've never asked for a comp while I was there. I've always used the offers that come in their mailers, and on the Boyd's web site/Mobile app.
