    Tempted to spend my BR

I have been playing reds for about a year. With a lot of great advice, Dons' BJ3 and such, the BR (I had taken about $1000 and set aside as BR) has grown from $1000 to about $15,000. I still play red chips and while my BR has gone down or up by $2000 , I have $10,000 of my BR hidden away.

Problem is that I get thoughts of using the BR for some luxuries..recently tempted to trade my car for a better car and pay the $7000 difference from my BR.

Its tough to have cash on us and not find reasons to spend it. Its my hardest challenge for now.

Somehow I doubt the fact that it has grown from 1-15k solely from playing, and you still view 7k of it as money.

You play to make money -- use it if you need to. If you don't need a car, I wouldn't get one. But then again, it is your money and if you feel like the decrease in BR is worth a new car -- then get a car.

There are better games at the 25 min. tables. Sounds like you did very well at the 10 min. games so you should do better with better rules.

My first BR was $1200 i got from a car accident that was suppose to pay my $20,000 some odd in hospital bills after a car accident (i got screwed. insurance company payed nothing and had to settle for nothing or risk high lawyer fees to get maybe a few thousand more)
Anyway, at the time i had been learning to count so decided to hit the casinos. I had no concept of ROR but had access to a heatless DD game with 10 mins. I used a 1-30 spread and turned that $1,000 into $25,000 in 4 months. Literal 8 hour long sessions. Although, i did hit the lucky ladies 3 times for a total of $11,000 near the end of the 4 month spree. I spent sooooo much of it. I eventually taped out but it was one hell of a ride. And i got use to massive loses/wins. Losing half your BR in a night only to make it back the next day. Sheesh. It was crazy. But i bought a lexus, payed hella bills and my rent 6 months in advance. Now i have no BR, saving up. But to think a year ago I had at most $15,000 in my pocket and had won $25,000....ugh. Could have a real nice stack of cash right now. Once the negative Variance kicks in though, christ it was like you used up all your wins. Every max bet goes to waste. Every double, split gets crushed. Its sick. Glad i spent alot of it before. Then of course after i was nearly depleted i learned about resizing and ROR. Decided to quit with maybe $2,000 left.
Learned alot though. Fear Variance and ROR is real.

^ I was actually going to bring up that subject -- "What do you do with your winnings?" or rather, other than making money, what do you use that money for and when do you take it out of your BR?

Pac -- could you REALLY spread $10 to $300 on a double-deck game? Good Lord...

Best response I've seen in weeks.
"One of these days in your travels, you are going to come across a guy with a nice brand new deck of cards, and this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the Jack of Spades jump out of the deck and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not take this bet, for if you do, as sure as you are standing there, you are going to end up with an ear full of cider."

Oops, my mistake, BR grew to $15K, tough to have $300 max out..

I put it wrong. Let us just say that my BR is currently at $15K but it has not got lower than $12K in several months and I am tempted to spend $7K of it. Someone suggested moving up to $25 min tables. I am trying but I am not mentally there to put out a max bet of $300+. I have been playing the $10 tables and the most I have been comfortable playing is two hands of about $80 each or one hand of about $125 at TC5+. Splitting or doubling would take it to $600. Splitting a pair of 8's with $300 out against a dealer 10 would be a tough decision when you have that amount out.

I really appreciate the pros playing the high limit games and having 4 figures out on a single hand.

Your BJ bankroll should not be considered as Money to do anything other than buy chips.
We play a game and to play the game you must buy chips.
Until you reach a level that your BR is adequate to support your level of play all of it should go to increasing your BR.
If your a $5 player then maybe your happy with a 10 or 15k BR you have a job and play as a hobby.
It all depends on your level of comfort and how you approach the game.
Beware the fury of a patient man.
